He was born on 29 September 1864 at Withcall, Lincolnshire, England, according to a certified copy of his birth certificate according to Jean Rhiness.17,18,16 Alternatively, he may have been born on 1 October 1864 at England according to the 1901 census19,20,21; or, on 2 October 1865 at United Province of Canada according to information provided by his son on his death registration.13 Alternatively, he may have been born in 1854 according to the family gravestone which is difficult to read, so the date may be 1864.5,22 Frederick married Rachel Shaw on 3 October 1894 at Meaford, St. Vincent Twp., Grey County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Marriage Registration 004337. His religion was given as Friends, and her's was Methodist. He was a farmer.5,23,19,24,25,26,14,15,20,21,27

Frederick Crosskill was buried on 4 November 1937 at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery, Thornbury, Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario, Canada.5,13,30
He was commonly known as Fred according to the 1901 and 1921 censuses and family sources.5,19,15,21,30,27

The following biographical fact was included at a letter containing her extensive family research, courtesy of Jean Rhiness nee Crosskill:
She writes that the family celebrated Fred and Joseph's birthdays together because they were so close together, even though they were 4 years apart. Thus, some sources give Fred's birth date as Oct 1 or Oct 2.18

Frederick Croskill appeared on the 1871 British Census of at England, Lincolnshire, in the household of his mother Mary Ann Croskill.16 Frederick Crosskill immigrated with his mother, Mary Ann White on 19 July 1873 to Port of Québec, Québec, Canada, leaving Liverpool on July 10, 1873, via Londonderry, Ireland on the Montreal Ocean Steamship Company ship "Prussian."32,33,34,35,36,37
Fred and Rachel Crosskill appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, described as described as a Christian and a Farmer. Their children: C. Clayton and Emma, were listed as living with them.21 Fred Crosskill was the informant on the death registration of his father, Edward Shaw, who died on 4 December 1906.38
Fredrick and Rachael Crosskill appeared on the 1911 Canadian Census of Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario, enumerated 5 June 1911. Fredrick was described as a Farmer, religion is illegible. Their children Emma, Rossetta M and Clifford E. R. were listed as living with them. As was his mother-in-law, Maria Shaw.20 Fred Crosskill was the informant on the death registration of his mother-in-law and 1st cousin, Maria Shaw, who died on 7 October 1917.39
Fred and Rachael Croskill appeared on the 1921 Canadian Census of Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario, enumerated circa 10 June 1921. Fred was described as a farmer and Holiness Workers. Their children Emma, Rosetta and Clifford were listed as living with them.27
Frederick Crosskill was referenced, but not by name, in the obituary of his son Clayton Crosskill who died 19 April 1933.40 In the death registration of Clayton Charles Crosskill who died on 19 April 1933, Frederick Crosskill was identified as his father.41
Fredrick Croskill was recorded as father of the bride at the marriage of William Sanford Knott and Emma Crosskill on 18 May 1933.42
The following obituary appeared in the newspaper The Sun Times published in Owen Sound, Ontario 3 November 1937:
FRED CROSSKILL DIES, CLARKSBURG
Death Followed Illness of Two Years — Was Native of England
CLARKSBURG, Nov. 3. — Following an illness of about two years the death occurred on Tuesday of Mr. Fred Crosskill, a well known resident of Clarksburg. Born in England 73 years ago, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Crosskill, the family came to Canada when deceased was nine years of age and settled in St. Vincent township on the 7th line. He was married 45 years ago to Rachel Shaw, and they resided first in Collingwood township and later in the village of Clarksburg. He was held in high esteem by all who knew him, and his death will be regretted by a wide circle of friends in this community.
The late Mr. Crosskill is survived by his wife, one son, Clifford, in Euphrasia Township; and two daughters, Mrs. Sandford Knott, Clarksburg and Miss Rosette Crosskill, R.N. of Toronto. He also leaves two brothers out of a family of nine children, Joseph, Meaford and Charles, Minneapolis, Minn. The funeral will take place on Thursday afternoon from his late residence at 2:30 o'clock to St. George's Anglican Church where service will be conducted by Rev. H. K. L. Charlton, followed by interment in the Union Cemetery.31

In the obituary of Rosetta Croskill who died 20 April 1989, her parents, Fred Crosskill and Rachael Crosskill were listed or implied as predeceased.43
The following analysis is from my personal research and reflects my attempts to consolidate information from different sources.
According to his obituary, he immigrated to Canada with his family at the age of 9. Thus, the 1873 immgration date appears to be more accurate than those included in census enumerations, even though it gives his age as 8, rather than 9. These censuses indicate he immigrated in 1879 (1911 census) and 1876 (1921 census.)44,20,27
