     Henry William Kuehl of Asquith was conscripted on 6 June 1918 at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, joining the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment. He gave his occupation as a farmer. He was described as being 6' with blue eyes, light brown hair and a sallow complexion. On his conscription papers he listed his next-of-kin as his father, August Kuehl of Killaloe P.O. RR#1, Ont. He was assigned regimental number 277060.¹
     On 28 July 1918, at Montréal, Québec, Canada, he embarked overseas and arrived at Liverpool on Aug. 15th. On Sep 28, 1918 he was hospitalized with influenza and was not discharged until Oct 11th.¹ Henry William Kuehl ended military service as part of general demobilization on 20 September 1919 at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, intending to return to Asquith. He had served with the C.A.M.C..
