     Herman Kargus died on 15 March 1916 at Lyndoch Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, of kidney disease and old age. He was a resident at Lot 11, Conc. 13 in the township for 31 years at the time of his death.1
     Herman Karyus was recorded as father of the bride at the marriage of Robert Kuehl and Louisa Karyus on 6 October 1904.7

Canadian Military Service - WWI

     Frank Dure of 924 Fairford W. began military service on 22 February 1917 at the age of 37 at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, joining the recruiting depot for Engineers & Signal Training. He was a Methodist and a carpenter. He had no children and his parents were deceased. He had no previous military training.. He was described as being 5' 6 1/2" and 160 lbs., with brown eyes and hari, and a mdeium complexion. On his Attestation (enlistment) papers, he listed his next-of-kin/contact as his wife, Elizabeth Dure, of the same address. He was assigned regimental number 1288542.9,10 Pte. Frank Dure ended his military service on 8 March 1917 at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, He was struck from strength as medically unfit.

     Frank and Elizabeth Dure appeared on the 1911 British Census of Canada, at Moose Jaw, enumerated 24 Apr 1921, described as a carpenter in the building industry and Salvation Army. Their daughter, Francis I., was listed as living with them.4
     Frank Dure and Elizabeth Dure appeared on the 1931 Canadian Census of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, enumerated 1 June 1931, described as a warehouseman for petroleum products, and Salvation Army.3
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Moose Jaw Times Herald published in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan circa 30 April 1947:
FRANK DURE
     The death occurred last evening in a local hospital of Frank Dure, aged 67, who resided at 157 Athabasca St. W.
     He was born in England and had lived for the past 43 years in Moose Jaw.
     Surviving are his widow, one daughter, Mrs. R. Riley of this city, one grandchild and three sisters in England.
     Funeral services will be held on Thursday at the Salvation Army citadel, High St. E., at two p.m. with Brig. F. Merritt, Regina, officiating, assisted by Major Johnsrude.
