In a 2002 birthday card, Janet (Moffat) Hume wrote:
Dear Graeme,
To wish you a Happy Birthday. I can remember the day so many years ago. Annie and I were driving the horse & buggy to school in town and Herb was with us to stay with Aunt Janet. (Riddell - older sister of their father, Alfred Moffat) Big snowflakes were falling but we were using wheels. When we went over town after school to pick up the mail, someone told us we had a baby brother, the first we knew all the "why's" - children weren't told a lot [of] things then as they are today. I also remember that Annie or Herb had the whooping cough, and so we couldn't see the baby when we arrived home... Love, Janet.

Graeme Moffat appeared on the 1921 Canadian Census of RM of Edenwold No. 158, Saskatchewan in the household of his parents, Alfred Moffat and Myrtle Moffat.14 Graeme was ill with polio at age 3 or 4. He was paralyzed to the neck. His primary care was provided by his mother, with occassional visits from the local country doctor. Dad always liked to have his ears rubbed and I have wondered if this goes back to his polio. I suspect Grandma touched his ears since he could feel the touch, and it became a reassurance to hm.

Dad later took early retirement due to respiratory problems linked to this polio. He started using oxygen in 1984, and had a tracheotomy in about 1992 so that he could use a ventilator to assist his breathing at night. For the last few years he was on his ventilator full time, but Lori had rigged up his motorized chair to accomodate it, so that he was still able to be mobile.1 He started his education in circa 1926 , attending Munro public school and Frobisher High School. He graduated in June 1940.15

Robert Hume and Graeme Moffat were roommates at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.1

He remained in Ontario for about a year in practice at Orono, probably with Dr. Will W Sherwin.1 He was listed as a witness to the marriage of Annie Elizabeth Moffat and Clarence William Harvey on 8 April 1944 in Wellington United Church, Brantford, Brantford Twp., Brant County, Ontario, CanadaG.17,18,19,20 Dr. Graeme Francis Moffat started his veterinary practice in Asquith in 1947.1,21
