Possibly August Zummach from Killaloe Digital Library
August Zummach was born in November 1854 the year is as recorded on his gravestone and the month comes from the church register referenced below. This aligns with his being 3 at the time of immigration from Hamburg.1,5 He was the son of Karl G Frederick Zummach and Wilhelmina Gienow.3,4,5,6,2 Alternatively, he was born on 15 November 1856 at Haselau, Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia/Preußen, GermanyG, as recorded in the First Baptist Church Register. It also gives his birth location as Hasela (sic), Pomerania which I assume is the same place as Haselau. Parts of Pomerania were included in Prussia during the 18th and 19th centuries.7,4,5,6,2 August married Marie Noack, daughter of Matthew C Noack and Anna Huehnchen, on 21 November 1877 at Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, CanadaG.3,8,2,7,4 The cause of his death was given as unknown causes after being sick for 12 months. His death registration does not indicate he was seen by a doctor near the time of his death.9 August died on 13 August 1890 at Raglan & Radcliffe Twps., Renfrew County, Ontario, CanadaG, at age 35 according to Ontario Death Registration 015166.7,10,9 He was buried at Emmanuel (aka Immanuel) Baptist Cemetery, Killaloe-Hagarty-Richards Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, CanadaG.1,11,12

His name was also recorded as August Summach in the 1871 census and his marriage registration.4,6 He was found on a passenger list for the Copernicus with his parents Carl and Wilhelmine on 1 April 1858 at Hamburg, GermanyG.5 August Zummach immigrated with his parents, Carl Zumach and Wilhelmine Zumach on 13 May 1858 at Québec City, Canada East, United Province of CanadaG, arriving on board the Copernicus.13

August Zummach and Mary Zummach appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Brudenell & Lyndoch Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 4 April 1881, enumerated as a Farmer and a Baptist. Their son William was listed as living with them.2
August Zummach was included in a circa 1890 photograph.15

Mary Noark appeared on the 1871 Canadian Census of Grattan Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario in the household of her parents, Mattk Noark and Mena Noark.6

Mary Zummach and August Zummach appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Brudenell & Lyndoch Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 4 April 1881, enumerated as a Farmer and a Baptist. Their son William was listed as living with them.11 The informant on the death registration of August Sumach was August's widow,Mary Sumack.18

Mary Sumach appeared on the 1891 Canadian Census of Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 3 June 1891, listed as a Widow, a Farmer and a Free Will Baptist. Her children William, Annie, Mary, Minnie, Lydia, August and Frederick were listed as living with her. The two families enumerated right before Mary's were those of Michael Kopotoskie and William Webber. The households of Frederick Yurt and Gustav Herman Pilgrim were listed on the next page of the census. The three later family names also became familiar in the Asquith district of Saskatchewan. Grandpa Fred noted how helpful a Mrs. Kopotosfski was to his mother, probably in the years of her widowhood.19

Mary Zumach appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, enumerated as a widow, and a Baptist. Her children William, Anna, Marie, Wilhelmiene, Liedia, August and Fredrick were listed as living with her.9 Mary Noakwas mother of the bridegroom at the marriage of William Zummach and Bertha Bimm on 4 October 1905.20 In 1908, Fred, August and their mother, Mary moved to the Asquith district from Ontario. The Avondale Baptist Church was organized in the home of William and Ida Wellwood on 27 May 1921 in Avondale District, south of Asquith. He was one of the first deacons of the church. Marie Noack, Mrs. August Summach was one of the charter members.27
     Other information:
An old family album containing pictures of Matt, Albert and August O Noack with a notation that they were her half-brothers was my first evidence that Mary's surname was Noack.

My "Uncle" (actually great-uncle) August Summach wrote that he and Fred convinced Mary to sell the farm in Ontario to finance their moving west to Saskatchewan.

Later in 1921 she moved to Edmonton to live with Lydia and Alex Potter. She returned to the Avondale farm in 1922.

Manley Summach told me that Mary did not like the prairies of Saskatchewan where her sons settled. She was the reason that Alex and Lydia (Summach) Potter moved to Edmonton. Later when she became sick she returned to the farm in the Avondale district. This is where she died in 1926. The Potter's farmed in what became the Steele Heights district in what is now Northeast Edmonton. In the 1940's John and Lydia Watson (Carole's parents) had an acreage in the same area.28
