     George White Croskill was born on 18 June 1850 at South Cockerington, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.11,6,8,12 He was the son of Benjamin Crosskill and Mary Ann White.5,6,7,8,9,10 Alternatively, he was born circa 4 August 1850 at Utterby, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.13,9 George White Croskill was baptized on 4 August 1850 at South Cockerington, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.14,11 George married Mary Dowkes, daughter of William Dowkes and Elizabeth (?), on 28 November 1876 at Owen Sound, Grey County, Ontario, CanadaG, according to Ontario Marriage Registration 202936, he was a labourer. She was a widow. He was a Baptist and she was a Methodist.15,16,7 George died on 19 June 1877 at Owen Sound, Grey County, Ontario, CanadaG, at age 27 On his Ontario Death Registration 003466, his religion is stated as Baptist, and his occupation was as a labourer.10,17,4 The cause of his death was given as accidental drowning. Other sources add that it occurred in the Potawatami River.4 He was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Owen Sound, Grey County, Ontario, CanadaG, initially buried at Brooke Cemetery and later moved.18,17

Their children Myrtle, Florence, Franklin, Olive, Ethel and Charles were listed as living with them.5 Joseph Crosskill witnessed the death of Hazel Elizabeth Crosskill on 11 March 1912 at St. Vincent Twp., Grey County, Ontario, CanadaG; of hydrocephalus from birth according to Ontario Death Registration 014361.22,23,24 Joseph Crosskill was the informant on the death registration of Emma's brother, Emma Croskill.25,2,26,27 In the obituary of Elsie Emma Elizabeth Helen Crosskill which printed circa 27 April 2006, Elsie's father, Joseph Crosskill was listed as predeceased.28

     The following biographical information appeared at a genealogy report courtesy of Theresa Fruhwirth, 16 September 2008 :
William played in the Thornbury band and asked Minnie, who was the church organist, to play and that is how they met. The family moved to Barrie in 1912 until 1923. They first lived on Capboard St. and then a friend who built houses talked them into buying 191 Bayfield St. It had a 300 foot garden where each child had a part for their own plantings. They kept prize chickens (large white wine-dot chickens) for which they won ribbons and cups at the county fair and did well selling eggs from them. On New Year's Eve, they would was the chickens and dry them with the vacuum cleaner and fed them corn to make their legs yellow for the New Year's Day fair. They had a large vegetable garden. Then the family moved to Galt for five years and then to Guelph in 1928. William was then transferred to London for five years and then on to Toronto at Old Orchard Grove at Yonge St. and Avenue Rd. area and then to Agincourt. He worked for an insurance company.5

     His name was also recorded as William J Crumpton in the 1901 census.4 He appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Thornbury, Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario in the household of his parents, William James Crompton and Ellen Martha McGuire.4

William Crompton and Minnie Crompton appeared on the 1921 Canadian Census of Barrie, Vespra Twp., Simcoe County, Ontario, enumerated 7 June 1921, enumerated as an insurance agent. Their children Maurice, Clifford and Douglas were listed as living with them.5
     The following biographical information appeared at a genealogy report courtesy of Theresa Fruhwirth, 16 September 2008 :
William played in the Thornbury band and asked Minnie, who was the church organist, to play and that is how they met. The family moved to Barrie in 1912 until 1923. They first lived on Capboard St. and then a friend who built houses talked them into buying 191 Bayfield St. It had a 300 foot garden where each child had a part for their own plantings. They kept prize chickens (large white wine-dot chickens) for which they won ribbons and cups at the county fair and did well selling eggs from them. On New Year's Eve, they would was the chickens and dry them with the vacuum cleaner and fed them corn to make their legs yellow for the New Year's Day fair. They had a large vegetable garden. Then the family moved to Galt for five years and then to Guelph in 1928. William was then transferred to London for five years and then on to Toronto at Old Orchard Grove at Yonge St. and Avenue Rd. area and then to Agincourt. He worked for an insurance company.6
