Thomas Langdale was born on 3 December 1813 at Yorkshire, EnglandG.1,2,8,9,10,6,7 He was christened on 3 December 1813 at Cowesby, Yorkshire, EnglandG.11 He was the son of Thomas Langdale and Elizabeth Hill.1,2,5,3 Alternatively, he was born circa 1815.5 Thomas died on 5 December 1891 at Miller Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana, USAG, at age 78, at home.1,2,12,4,9,7 He was buried at Georgetown Cemetery, Miller Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana, USAG, His grave marker is in the form of a tree stump or "treestone", which may indicate it was provided by the Woodmen of the World life insurance company as a benefit of a policy with them.13,9,12

He also went by the name of Tommy.12 He immigrated with his parents, Thomas Langdale and Elizabeth Langdale between 1 April 1828 and 30 June 1828 at Alexandria, Alexandria County, Virginia, USAG, left England from Liverpool, arriving at the port of Alexandria, VA on board the Pioneer under ships master, Leonard Marberg or possibly Marbury.5

Thomas Langdall appeared on the 1850 U.S. Federal Census of Miller Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana, enumerated 19 September 1850, listed as a farmer. As were his brother and sister-in-law, Robert Langdall and Mary A Langdall and their children, Jane, Martha, Francis, Robert and Mary. Their widowed sister, Elizabeth Sikes and her children, John, Henry and Jane were also enumerated with their household. Thomas' surname is given as Langdall and then the enumerator used a ditto mark for the surname of all other household members. In the case of Elizabeth and her children, their surname should probably have been Sikes (as shown as a middle name for John.)14

Thomas appeared on the 1860 U.S. Federal Census of Miller Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana, in the household of Robert Langdale.15

Thomas Langdon appeared on the 1870 U.S. Federal Census of Miller Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana, enumerated 6 July 1870, enumerated as a farmer using Pella Post Office. As were his brother, Robert Langdon and niece, Mary Langdon.10

Thomas Langdale appeared on the 1880 U.S. Federal Census of Miller Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana, enumerated 4 June 1880, enumerated as a farmer. As were Robert H Langdale and Belle Langdale and family, Thos, Charles, William and Rupert; as well as Charles A McGrue, (farmer and Belle's brother) and Issac Marshall (laborer) with his wife Chesify and family. They were neighbours of the Lorenzo Lemming and John Jackson families.6 Thomas Langdale was a pallbearer at the burial ofPamelia Blasdel on 24 October 1880 at Greendale Vault, Greendale, Lawrenceburg Twp., Dearborn County, Indiana, USAG.16,17

The following obituary appeared at the weekly newspaper, The Dearborn County Register published in Lawrenceburg, Indiana 24 December 1891 :
Died, December 5th, 1891, at his home in Miller township, Thomas Langdale, aged 78 years and 2 days. Mr. Langdale was a native of England, and came with his parents to Miller, then Lawenceburgh township, I think, in 1830. The farm was purchased and occupied since that time by the Langdale family. The deceased was a very industrious man all his life, considering his infirmity, and accumulated quite a competency. The deceased is the last of the original Langdale family. He left quite a number of relatives and hosts of friends. Mr. Langdale made no open profession [of re]ligion and was a bachelor.

Note that the lower right corner of this clipping is torn and missing.7

The following legal notice appeared in the Lawrenceburg, Indiana Dearborn County Register 8 May 1893 :

Langdale, Jr, as Executor of the estate of Thomas Langdale, deceased, has presented and filed his account and vouchers in final settlement of said estate, and that the same will come up for the examination and action of said Circuit Court on the 8th day of May, 1898 at which time all heirs and persons interested, creditors, or legatees of said estate are required to appear in said Court and show cause, if any there be, why said account and vouchers should not be approved.

Note that this clipping ends abruptly. It appears there was at least on more line in this notice.18
