     Meta was born on 29 March 1915 in Omagh, County Tyrone, Northern IrelandG.1 Meta married Clement George White on 23 November 1940 in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New ZealandG.4,5,1 She died on 22 February 2004 in Auckland, New ZealandG, at age 88.1
     Her name was also recorded as Meta White.5 Her name was also recorded as Mita Mahinney.4

     William was born circa 1 March 1813 in Lincolnshire, EnglandG.12,13,14,15,9 William married Amelia Millie Brown on 13 May 1844 in Ludborough parish, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.19,20,21,9,11 He died on 9 July 1880 in Ontario, CanadaG. This is my preferred date of death, based upon his gravemarker which gives the date as July 9, 1880.17,16,22 William White was buried in Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery, Thornbury, Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario, CanadaG.17,23
Alternatively, he died on 11 September 188024,6 or on 9 November 1880. Both are given by family sources, likely indicating confusion about date formats.15
     His name was also recorded as William S White.25 He was Baptised/Christened on 28 February 1813 in Ludborough, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.26,8
     Came from England to settle in Beaver Valley, Grey County, Ontario, Canada. They sailed from Hull, England on March 14, 1844 and spent four years in the Gore of Toronto before settling in Collingwood Township, Ontario.
     William White was recorded as the father of the bridegroom at the marriage of William White and Jane Atkins on 12 January 1881.27
     In the obituary of George White who died 24 January 1937, William White was listed as predeceased.28
     The following biographical information is from my (Rick Moffat's) personal research , 1998 :
WHITE, William
1813-1880
The eldest of Michael and Mary Ann (Patchett) White's children, William emigrated to the Gore of Toronto in 1844. In about 1847 he moved to Collingwood Township with his brothers and sister. He settled on the south half of Lot 18, Concession 10.

Between the years 1855 and 1870 he served as Reeve of the municipal council eleven times. From 1873 to 1880 he served as Deputy Reeve. He died while holding that office.

In 1860 the township acquired a set of books to be distributed between five centres. He was appointed to "attend to the dividing and to distribute them."

In 1878, a new brick church was built to replace the original log structure located just north of it. The original was on land from Samuel White. This was also a Wesleyan Methodist Church and became known as White's Church. It closed in 1969. In 1884 it became the Methodist Church of Canada. In 1925 it joined the United Church of Canada.29

Census Data

     William White appeared on the 1841 British Census of enumerated 1841, The 1841 Census of Lincoln, Wapentake, Ludborough shows a William White, 25, born in the county. He was a man servant for George Rose, 50, a farmer in the county. Since census takers tended to round the ages of males to the nearest 5 years, the age is within the right range.
     William White and Amelia appeared on the 1851 Canadian Census of Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Canada West, enumerated 11 January 1851. William was enumerated as a farmer and Wesleyan Methodist. Their children Mary Ann, Michael and Frances were listed as living with them.9

William White and Amelia White appeared on the 1861 Canada West Census of Grey County, Canada West, enumerated 14 January 1861, enumerated as Farmer and a W(eslayan?) Methodist. Their children Mary A, Michael, Frances, William and George were listed as living with them. The family lived in a one story log house.11
     William White and Amelia Millie appeared on the 1871 Canadian Census of Collingwood Twp., Grey County, Ontario, enumerated 2 April 1871. William was enumerated as a farmerand W Methodist. Their children Michael, William and George were listed as living with them.10
