     I suspect that Joseph and Josie are the same person, and that the 1880 census incorrectly specified the gender and relationship.3
     Joseph R. and Nora E Sykes appeared on the 1910 Federal Census of Jefferson Twp., Newton County, Indiana, enumerated circa 30 April 1910, described as a farm laborer. Their daughter, Mildred, was listed as living with them. They had been married for 9 years. She had had two children with one surviving..2
     Joseph R. and Nora E Sykes appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Sheldon, Sheldon Twp., Iroquois County, Illinois, enumerated 8 April 1930 Their daughter, Mildred S ., was listed as living with them.4

     Marcia L. Wack died on 28 February 1939, in a local hospital, at Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan, USA, at age 56.1,2
     She was the daughter of Leander and Viola (Morris) Wack.1
     Guy and Marcia Sykes appeared on the 1910 U.S. Federal Census of Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan, enumerated 23 April 1910, described as a machinist in a factory. Their children: Cereda and Robert, were listed as living with them.3
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Battle Creek Enquirer published in Battle Creek, Michigan 28 February 1939:
Mrs. Marcia L. Harvey
     Mrs. Marcia L. Harvey, 56, of 120 Champion, a seamstress and sales lady at Welsh's Vogue shop for three years, died at 5:17 a. m. today in a local hospital. Mrs. Harvey became ill with a cold about February 12, remained home for about a week, then worked four days, and again was confined to her home Friday after becoming seriously ill Thursday night. Saturday she was taken to the hospital. She was the widow of Arthur J. Harvey, a foreman in the city water department, who died March 19, 1931. Born May 20, 1882, in Kalamo township, Eaton county, the daughter of Leander and Viola (Morris) Wack, Mrs. Harvey had resided in Battle Creek for about 24 years. She also had been employed for several years at Klein's store. She was a member of Battle Creek chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Paul Mapes of 65 Manchester; a son, Robert E. Sykes of Lawrenceburg, Ind; her mother, now residing in Bowling Green, O; a brother, Charles Wack of Bowling Green; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Rockwood of Bowling Green, Mrs. Bessie Saunders of Kalamo, and Mrs. Mary Faust of Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday in the Hebble chapel with the Rev. Carleton Brooks Miller in charge. Burial will be in Memorial Park.1


     The following obituary appeared in the weekly newspaper the Lawrenceburg Press published in Lawrenceburg, Indiana 3 March 1939:
MOTHER OF ROBERT SYKES (sic) DIES
     Mrs. Marcia Sykes, age 58, mother of Robert E. Sykes, chief engineer at A. D. Cook, Inc. died Tuesday at Battle Creek, Michigan from pneumonia, which she suffered after a relapse from influenza. Mr. and Mrs. Sykes left Monday for her bedside and reached there shortly before her death.

Mrs. Sykes had visited her son here several .times, her last visit being at Christmas. She was employed in a dress shop In Battle Creek for many years. Survivors are her son Robert and a daughter.2

     Guy Sykes died on 4 August 1937, at his home on R.R.2, at Mishawaka, St. Joseph County, Indiana, USA.4
