ASQUITH. - The funeral took place from the Asquith United church on Sunday, of Allan Thompson, pioneer of the Asquith district, who passed away suddenly on Saturday morning on the C.P.R. train between Macklin and Kerrobert, at the age of 74 years. Rev. H. J. Sangwine, of Asquith and Kinley, conducted the service. The deceased came to Asquith in 1906, from Blythe, Ont., homesteading 4 miles north of town where he has since resided. When death overtook him suddenly he was traveling to Onward, Sask., where he intended to visit for a short time with his nephew, Harry Thompson, of that town, and when making connections with the Kerrobert train at Macklin he was compelled to run to catch the train and the over-exertion proved too much for him and he died on gaining his seat on the train. He leaves two sisters, Mrs. A. L. Thomas and Mrs. S. Tucker, and one brother, John Thompson, all of Asquith. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Andy Burwell, A. J. McNab, Jack Ewan, Allan Burwell, T. Taman, and Harry McNab.¹

House Destroyed At Asquith
     ASQUITH. The small farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Tucker, four miles north of Asquith, was completely destroyed by fire early Tuesday morning. Mr. Tucker arose early, lit the fire and leaving the drafts open went out to do the chores. Mrs. Tucker, who is an elderly woman, was alone In the house and in bed at the time tho fire started. She escaped from the house clad in her nightclothes. She suffered minor burns on her hands. Besides the house and all furnishings, a sum of money was also burned. No insurance was carried on the house or contents.⁵

     THE DEATH OF MRS. MARY Tucker, aged 76 years, of Asquith Sask., occurred at Asquith on July 14. 1948. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 16, at 2 p.m. slow tine, from the Anglican church at Asquith, conducted by Rev. Mr. Newman of Perdue, Sask. Surviving are her widower, Samuel Tucker of Asquith; one sister, Mrs. Jane Thomas of Asquith; one brother, John Thompson of Asquith. Burial will he made in the family plot at Asquith, Sask. Mckague'a Funeral Home in charge.⁴
