Miss Nellie Crosskill daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Crosskill of Johnson's Crossing, was married to Elmer Kelly of Tacoma Friday evening Oct 24. Rev. M. M. Milhoan performed the ceremony in the presence of relatives and intimate friends at the home of the bride’s parents at 8:30 o'clock. The bride wore a dainty gown of creme lansdowne trimmed in lace and carried a bouquet of bride's roses. Autumn leaves and myrtle decorated the room where the vows were plighted. Supper was served after the ceremony and the guests escorted the bride and groom to their own new home on Pacific avenue and South Parker street where they are now at home to friends.7

     Charles Elmer Kelley registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 at Parkland Precinct I, Pierce County, Washington, USA, at the age of 30. He was a carpenter, employed by Adolph Jones of Cosgrove, Washington. He was married with two children. He was described as tall and slender with brown eye and dark brown hair.5
     Chas. E. and Nellie Kelly appeared on the 1920 U.S. Federal Census of Pierce County, Washington, Parkland Precinct II, enumerated 7 January 1920, described as a carpenter in the construction industry. Their children: Robert E. and Dorothy, were listed as living with them.4
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the News-Pilot published in San Pedro, California 28 December 1929:
CHARLES KELLEY DIES, FUNERAL MONDAY
     Charles E. Kelley, 42, of 554 West Twelfth street, died yesterday at the Los Angeles city hospital. Death came after a short illness.
     A member of the local Carpenter’s Union, Mr. Kelley has been a resident of San Pedro for three years. Besides his widow, Mrs. Nell Kelley, he is survived by two children, Robert E. and Dorothy A. Kelley of San Pedro, and his father Shephard Kelley of Tacoma, Washington.
     Funeral services will take place at the Cleveland Garden chapel at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. E. Tanner Brown officiating. Pallbearers will be members of the Carpenter’s Union. Interment will take place in the Roosevelt Memorial park.2

     Funeral services for Charles E. Kelley, 42, of 554 West Twelfth street, took place this morning at 10 a m at the Cleveland Garden Chapel. Kelley passed away Friday at the Los Angeles city hospital. Survivors are his wife, Mrs Nell Kelley, two children, Robert E. and Dorothy Kelley, father Shephard Kelley and two sisters, Mrs. Grace Hughes and Mrs. Harry Rogers, all of Tacoma, Washington.3

Lois Genter Will Wed Robert E Kelley in Late June
     Miss Lois Genter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Genter, has chosen June 25 as the date for her wedding to Robert E. Kelley, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Haworth. Both of the young people were reared in San Pedro and are graduates of the local high school.
     The troth news was revealed at a party given by the parents of the bride-elect at their home on Eighth street by a clever announcement card, bearing the pictures of the engaged couple and enclosed in a scroll on which the guests wrote their bits of wisdom and advice. These were assembled in a bride's memory book and created much comment and merriment when read as a part of the evening’s entertainment.
     Besides the honorees, a formal dinner party included Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Haworth and daughter, Dorothy Daugherty, and the host and hostess and their sons, Jack and Bob.
     Relatives of the family and friends chosen for the wedding party, invited for the evening, were Messrs and Mesdames A. J. Keltie, R. W. Stratton and Charles Overstreet; Misses Ruth Ihme and Betty Jane Skirvin and Mr. Robert Funk, all of Long Beach. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Genter and daughter, Jean, of Wilmington; the Rev. and Mrs. Oscar J. Nurse, Messrs and Mesdames C. J. Genter, R. F. Genter and O. M. Bullock and Miss Carrie Bullock, all of San Pedro.13

     Robert Elmer Kelley, of 1306 W-G Willmington, Los Angeles, registered for the draft on 16 October 1940 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA, at the age of 26. He was employed by Brown New Company of Long Beach. He listed his next-of-kin/contact person as his wife, Lois Ruth Kelley. He was described as 6' 4 3/4" and 138 lbs. with brown eyes, brown hair and a light complexion.3

Pre-Nuptial Shower At Genter Home Honors Miss Kelley
     Honoring Dorothy Kelley, whose marriage to Robert Daugherty will be an event of August 15. Lois Genter entertained with a surprise miscellaneous showei in the patio of her home yesterday. Guests gathered at the Genter home at 10:30 o'clock in the morning for brunch which was prepared in keeping with the bridal motif.
     Running telegrams for the bride-elect for which the initial letters were taken from her name were one of the days diversions.
     Included in the guest list were the honoree, her mother, Mrs. Nell Kelley; Mrs. A. E. Genter, mother of the hostess; Mesdames Robert Hoxworth, Horace McQuigg, Hans Pedersen, Oscar T. Nurse, Milton Beehan and Joe Bryant; Misses Marjorie Hanna of Los Angeles, Martha Clapp, Dorothy Ingham, Nettie Nurse, Jerry Anderson, Alison Mitchel,l Helen Arakelian, Audrey Kresin and Astrid and Henrietta Berentsen.12

     Dorothy A. Daugherty appeared on the 1940 U.S. Federal Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, enumerated 12 April 1940, described as typing reports for a telephone company. The previous year, she had an income of $1,213. Her monthly rent was $33. In 1935, she had lived in San Pedro, so probably still at home with her mother.6 She were included on a passenger manifest for the U.S.A.T. "Fred C. Ainsworth" dated 27 January 1949 arriving at Seattle, Washington, USA, after departing Yokohama, Japan on 16 Jan 1949.8

Lois Genter Will Wed Robert E Kelley in Late June
     Miss Lois Genter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Genter, has chosen June 25 as the date for her wedding to Robert E. Kelley, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Haworth. Both of the young people were reared in San Pedro and are graduates of the local high school.
     The troth news was revealed at a party given by the parents of the bride-elect at their home on Eighth street by a clever announcement card, bearing the pictures of the engaged couple and enclosed in a scroll on which the guests wrote their bits of wisdom and advice. These were assembled in a bride's memory book and created much comment and merriment when read as a part of the evening’s entertainment.
     Besides the honorees, a formal dinner party included Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Haworth and daughter, Dorothy Daugherty, and the host and hostess and their sons, Jack and Bob.
     Relatives of the family and friends chosen for the wedding party, invited for the evening, were Messrs and Mesdames A. J. Keltie, R. W. Stratton and Charles Overstreet; Misses Ruth Ihme and Betty Jane Skirvin and Mr. Robert Funk, all of Long Beach. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Genter and daughter, Jean, of Wilmington; the Rev. and Mrs. Oscar J. Nurse, Messrs and Mesdames C. J. Genter, R. F. Genter and O. M. Bullock and Miss Carrie Bullock, all of San Pedro.5

     Robert E. and Lois Kelley appeared on the 1940 U.S. Federal Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, enumerated 26 April 1940, described as a magazine distributor in the magazines industry.2
     Lois Ruth Kelley was listed as next-of-kin/contact on the draft registration of her husband, Robert Elmer Kelley.6

Port Resident 35 Years Dies
     W D Haworth, 63, of 3231 S. Pacific ave., a resident here for 35 years died yesterday at San Pedro hospital of a heart ailment.
     Haworth was the oldest member cf the Wilmington Local No. 235 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was born in Hannibal, Mo.
     Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at McNerney’s mortuary. He will be buried at Green Hills cemetery.
     Haworth leaves his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Eva Fletcher; a granddaughter Mrs. Kathleen Degelman of Lomita; a brother, George; sisters, Mrs. Goldie McCorstin of Redondo Beach; Mrs Frank Clayton of Kansas City Mo; Mrs Julia Welder of Hannibal, Mo; his stepmother, Mrs. Anna Haworth, of Hannibal, and several stepchildren, nieces and nephews.5
