WILLIAMS-GOODRICH.
     Invitations were received here today for the marriage of Miss Bertha Annabelle Goodrich of Rockford and Mr. George Albert Williams of Gardner, Ill. The wedding is to occur on July 17 at 1 o'clock at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Hiram A. Merlien, 636 Garfield avenue, Rockford, and a number of De Kalb people will be present. The bridal couple will be at home to their friends at Gardner, after September 1. Both young people are former residents of DeKalb. Mr. Williams was here at the Powell drug store for over a year and he was highly respected and well liked by De Kalb people. He is at present with the Spiller drug store at Gardner. Miss Goodrich is the niece of Mr. and Mrs. A. Criswell and has made her home here for several years. She resigned her position as stenographer at Judge Orr's office about six weeks ago to make plans for her wedding. Hundreds of friends of these young people extend good wishes for the future.7

Their daughter, Naomi, was listed as living with them.      Harry E. McManus, 58, director of retail store advertising in the Chicago office of the Hearst Advertising service for the last 10 years, died of a heart attack last night in his home at 105 E. Delaware pi. He had been an advertising executive with the Hearst and Paul Block newspaper chains for 28 years. His widow, Leona (sic), and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Meredith L. McManus, Dixon, Lee county, survive.4

     Word has been received here of the passing of Harry E. McManus of Chicago, a former resident of Dixon. The body arrived in Dixon today and was taken to the Preston funeral home from where funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 followed by interment in Oakwood cemetery. The Rev. Joseph C. Mason of St Luke's Episcopal church will officiate at the funeral.5

     Harry E McManus was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, June 6, 188S, the son of Mr and Mrs. LaForest Meredith of Franklin Grove He graduated from the Dixon high school m June, 1908 and was united in marriage to Naomi Merlien of Rockford, November 25, 1914. He was advertising director of the Milwaukee Sentinel, the Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph, the Baltimore News-Post and had been associated with the Hearst publications for more than 25 years. He is survived by his parents and his wife. Casket bearers at his funeral service were his associates from the Chicago office of the Hearst publications.3

A. H. MERLIEN LEFT ESTATE OF $187,000.
     The late A H. Merlien, who passed many years of his life in the vicinity of Baileyville and died at Rockford, left an estate estimated at $187,000. The Rockford Star, in referring to the supposed will of the deceased, says:
     Petition for papers under the supposed will of the Late A. H. Merlien was filed in probate court yesterday, and Thursday, June 21, was set as date of hearing the same.
     The document disposes of a vast estate and discloses the fact that the late Mr. Merlien was one of Rockford's wealthiest citizens. The estimated value of the personal property of the estate as set forth in the petition is $70,000, while the real estate amounts above the hundred thousand mark, $187,000 being the estimated the value of his lands.
     The heirs-at-law are the widow, Mrs. Anna Merlien and five children, Emma Merlien, Rose Merlien, Mrs. Anna M. Pooley, Mrs. Lena Brown and H. A. Merlien. Mrs. Anna Merlien and Miss Emma Merlien are named as executors.1

     Cora Mina Bone died on 7 December 1959 at Saint Charles, Kane County, Illinois, USA, at age 56.1
