SHAWVILLE, July 12 (Special) — Alexander S. Elliott, who lived on the third concession of Clarendon and was a lifelong resident of the township, died at his home on Monday at the age of 84 years. Son of the late Alexander Elliott, he was married 50 years ago to Sarah Lorena Beach of Douglas. Ont. Surviving him are his wife, two sons, Wm. W. Elliott, at home, and Alex. G. Elliott of Herschel, Sask.: six daughters, Mrs. Wm. Webb of Bristol, Mrs. Vincent Hodgins of Clarendon, Mrs. Lester Thacker of Shawville, Mrs. Robert Thompson and Mrs. Stanley Thacker of Portage du Fort, Que; Mrs. Elmer Briscoe of Northcate (sic), Ont; three brothers. Adam of Clarendon, Joseph of Stranrier, Sask., and James of Wiggins. Sask; one sister, Mrs. Sherwood Wilson of Birch Hills, Sask; 40 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The late Mr. Elliott was active in municipal life, for many years sittlng on the Clarendon council as mayor councillor. He was a member of St. Paul's Anglican church in which the funeral service was held this morning conducted by Rev. P. R. Stote of Charteris. with interment in the parish cemetery.2
