Names of on Ottawa and three district airmen were included in the official casualty list released last night by R.C.A.F. headquarters.
Sergeant Air Gunner Earl Stewart. Rheaume, husband of Mrs. Dorothy Rheaume, 121 Sherbroke street, previously reported missing on active service oversea, is now for official purposes presumed dead.
Flying Officer Lester Lyle Whitham, son of Harry Whitham, 390 Main street west, North Bay, is reported lulled on active service overseas.
Sgt Robert Allan Barr, son of Selby Bant Douglas, is reported missing on active service after air operations overseas.
The third district man. Pilot Officer Oliver Hanton Mennie, son' of R. A. Mennie, 163 Spruce street north, TImmins, is reported seriously ill as a result of injuries sustained on active ' service overseas.
Sgt. Earl Rheaume was the son of Mrs. Lillian Rheaume, who lives at 184 Bayswater avenue, and the late Mr. Rheaume. He was born in Ottawa In 1814, and attended Devonshire Public School, obtaining his secondary education at Glebe Collegiate. After graduation he was employed by Clark Dairy Ltd and later by Ferris Transfer, marrying Mrs. Rheaume, the former Dorothy Ristow, in 1935. He Joined the R.CAT. In June, 1941, training at Toronto, Camp Borden, Montreal, Trenton and Fingal, where re (sic) received his air gunner's wing (sic) in June, 1942. He arrived overseas i month later.
Sgt. Rheaume was the father of one son, Earl who is 2 1/2 years old.
PO. Oliver Mennie, who is reported seriously ill, was one of a group of R.C.A.F. flyers who survived a crash into the sea off Newfoundland last Spring. The crew of his aircraft spent 30 hours floating on a small ice floe while awaiting rescue.
He is an observer.4
