     William Dawson died in 1874.1
     William and Elisabeth Dawson appeared on the 1870 U.S. Federal Census of Freeport, Stephenson County, Illinois, enumerated 23 June 1870, described as a ret[ail] notion dealer. Their children: A A, Ida, Elisabeth, Gertrude, Alice and Willie, were listed as living with them.3

Note: It is not clear which sister is referenced above since her maiden name would have been Maitland. I am currently not aware of a sister whose married name was Maitland.5

Her declaration was supported by her Uncle Peter James Shaw, and by a family bible.1,3,2,4,6,5 Mary married William A.      She was born on 4 December 1872 at Ontario, Canada, according ot the 1901 census.4 Alternatively, she may have been born in 1871 or 1872 at Brighton, Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada, since she was age 9 in the 1881 census, and 20 in the 1891 census.

According to her sister Mary Belle's delayed birth registration, Mary was the only child born to her parents. Therefore, Flora Jane may have been an adopted daughter.1,2,3 Flora married Richard Arnold Beard on 13 April 1895 at Brighton, Northumberland County, Ontario, Canada.5,1,4
     Flora Jean Beard died on 6 February 1907 at Thorold, Welland County, Ontario, Canada, at age 34 according to Ontario Death Registration 0312105.6 The informant on her death registration was W. Campbell, who was not related.. Her husband was identified as R. Beard.6 The cause of her death was given as acute pneumonia after 9 days illness according to Ontario Death Registration 031215.6
     Jane Shaw appeared on the 1881 Canadian Census of Brighton Twp., Northumberland County, Ontario in the household of her parents, Malcolm and Sarah Shaw.3
     Flory Shaw appeared on the 1891 Canadian Census of Brighton Twp., Northumberland County, Ontario in the household of her parents, Malcolm and Sarah Shaw.2
     Richard A. and Jean F Beard appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Merritton, Lincoln County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, described as a carpenter. Their children: Maitland A. and Malcolm S, were listed as living with them.4
