He was born in Austin township, Macon county, June 13, 1883, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Rau, now of Maroa. He married Maude Trowbridge in 1903, who preceded him in death. During the last year he had been living with a son. Rexford Rau, near Chestnut. He was a member of the United Brethren church.
Besides his parents, he leaves three children, Bernard, Hoodriver, Ore; Rexford, Chestnut; and Dorothy, Maroa.
