Mary Ann Hopkins died on 13 March 1885 at Hutchinson, Reno County, Kansas, USA, at age 68.3,5

Abram V. and Mary A Schamp appeared on the 1860 U.S. Federal Census of St. Francois County, Missouri, enumerated 8 July 1860, described as a farmer. Their children: Lewis A., Benjamin F., Emily C., Anna M., Corrinna M., Henrietta and William H., were listed as living with them. He had real estate valued at $500 and a personal estate of $757.4
Mary Ann Schamp appeared on the 1870 U.S. Federal Census of Jefferson Twp., Jefferson County, Kansas, in the household of Lewis H. Schamp.1
The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Hutchinson News Weekly published in Hutchinson, Kansas after 13 March 1885:
SCHAMP - On March 13, 1885, Mrs. Mary Ann Schamp, wife of Abraham Schamp; aged 68 years, 6 months, and 20 days.

For nearly half a century this twain, walked hand in hand, in joy, in sorrow, in sickness and in health, they sustained, assisted, encouraged, and comforted each other. The old man will be very lonely now. Both faith and work spoke about her Christian character and the simple word "mother" on the lid of her casket told how well her children loved her. Those children and their father need not be told that they have the sympathy of all in their great bereavement. How brief a period and how long a time is three score years and ten. How crucial an experience can be crowded therein and yet it is but a speck on the limitless ocean of eternity.3

The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Weekly Interior Herald published in Hutchinson, Kansas 21 March 1885:
Died.
     SCHAMP
On Friday, March 13th, 1885, Mary Ann Maria Schamp, wife of Abraham Schamp, aged sixty-eight years, six mouths and twenty days. The deceased was born in Huntington county, Pennsylvania, August 23, 1816, and was married to Abraham Schamp April 27, 1837. They were the parents of nine children, live boys and tour girls, seven of whom are now living. Mrs. Schamp was a devoted member of the Methodist church.
Tell the fainting soul in the weary form
There's a world of purest Miss
That is linked as the sou! and form are linked
By a covered bridge with this.
Yet to reach that realm on the other shore,
     We must pass through a transient gloom;
And must walk unseen, unhelped and alone
Through that covered bridge the tomb.
But we all pass over on equal terms,
     For the universal loll
Is the outer garb which the hand of God
     Has flung; around the soul.5

In the obituary of Abraham Schamp who died 30 October 1888, his wife, the former Mary Ann Hopkins was listed as predeceased.2
