Rockford Man Once of Pierce Is Summoned
Clayton Phelps, 77 years of age, and a former resident of Pierce Township passed away late Tuesday afternoon at his home in Rockford. Mr. Phelps passed away from a heart attack, and his death was most sudden as he had been around in apparently his usual good health during the day.
He was born on May 11, 1870, in Pierce Township and grew to manhood there, farming in the community for several years. About 1901 he moved to Rockford where he made his home, being employed on the transportation line of that city until he suffered a stroke. He recovered partially and has been in good health for a number of years.
His passing is mourned by three brothers, Forrest Phelps of DeKalb, Merritt Phelps of Rockford and George Phelps of Norfolk, Va..
Funeral services are to be held on Friday at 1:30 o'clock at the McAllister-Julian Funeral Home in Rockford and burial will be in Rockford.3

Killed in Chicago. The sad death of little Irene Phelps of Chicago, reached DeKalb. She accidentally fell from a second story balcony, Saturday, breaking her neck. The little girl was bat four years old and lived two hours after the accident occurred.
