Among The Women
In a lovely candlelight service at the First Methodist Church in DeKalb at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Doris Elaine Haefner of 1018 State Street, DeKalb and Francis G. Waldrop, also of DeKalb, were united in marriage. Rev, Paul Benedict officiated at the double ring ceremony. The bride the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Haefner and the groom, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Waldrop of Birds.
Decorations at the altar were two baskets of white gladioli with fern leaves. Organ music was furnished by Prof. Charles Baker, and. the soloist was Joyce Franzene. Selections sung at the wedding were "I Love You Truly,” and “Because,“ favorite selections, of the bride and groom, and “The Lord's Prayer" as the couple knelt at the altar.
Eleanor Konte, lifelong friend and schoolmate, was the bride's attendant. Her dress was of forest green taffeta with off-the-shoulder effect, and trimmed In green net with matching green net mitts. She wore a wreath of yellow carnations and baby mums in her hair, and carried a bouquet of yellow mums and carnations.
The best man was Donaid Waldrop, brother of the groom. Ushers were Donald Haefner, brother of the bride and Marlin Waldrop, brother of the groom.
Mr. Haefner, father of the bride, gave her in marriage. Her gown was of Ivory satin styled with a sweetheart neckline embroidered in small pearl beads, the sleeves were long and pointed at the wrists and the bodice was tightly fitted and the full skirt ended in a long train. Her fingertip veil was in Dutch cap effect of French illusion net and her only jewelry was a single strand of pearls. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and chrysanthemums centered with an orchid and having a shower with satin streamers
A reception was held in the church parlors for 75 guests. The lovely three-tiered wedding cake and a wreath of rosebuds and ferns formed the table centerpiece. Assisting at the reception were Nancy Seitzinger, Mrs. Claudine Butts, Mrs. Don Haefner, Mrs. Sylvia Maitland. and Barbara Gormley.
After a brief honeymoon the newlyweds will make their home In Aurora. For traveling the bride wore a forest green suit with black accessories and orchid from her bouquet.
The bride is a graduate of the DeKalb Township High School and prior to her marriage was employed in the office of the Cyclone Fence division. Mr. Waldrop is a graduate of the Lawrenceville Township High School, and served 2 1/2 years in the navy.
Out of town guests at the wedding were from Chicago, Maple Park, Sycamore, Lawrenceville, Birds and Beloit, Wis.2
