In a lovely wedding Saturday evening. June 17, at 8:00 o'clock Betty Bower, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steward Bower of Genoa, became the bride of Everett Plapp, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Plapp of Maple Park.
The service took place at the East Pierce Church and was beautiful in its simplicity. Rev. J. L. Lobaugh read the impressive double ring service.
As the bridal chorus from "Lohengrin" was played, the bridal party took its place before the altar which had been decorated with basket of poenies (sic), lilies, roses and mock orange blossoms. The bride was
escorted to the altar by her father who gave her in marriage. She wore a gown of white brieaded slipper satin, fashioned with a tight fitted bodice, sweetheart neckline and long closely cued sleeves. The full, shirred skirt extended into a long train and her long veil was of fine net. trimmed with lace, and held in place by a coronet of seed pearls. She carried a white lace handkerchief and her bouquet was of white tea roses and carnations centered by a natural colored orchid and tied with white satin streamers. Her double string of pearls, gift of the groom, was her only jewelry.
Charlotte Morris was maid of honor. Bernice Bowers, cousin of the bride, and Edith Plapp, cousin of the bride and.groom, were bridesmaids. They wore formal floor length gowns of taffeta fashioned similarly to that of the bride. Miss Morris wore blue: Miss Bower and Miss Plapp wearing pink. Each carried a colonial bouquet of carnations and roses and wore a wreath of flowers in her hair.
Janice Ann Sanderson as flower girl, wore a peach formal and carried a white basket from which she scattered pink petals In the path of the bride. Charlotte Brean, second cousin of the bride was ring bearer and wore an orchid formal gown. She carried the ring on a white satin pillow. Jean Rishel, cousin of the bride, was train bearer. Her gown was of blue chiffon. All three wore shoulder corsages of sweet peas and wreaths of flowers in their hair.
Earl Plapp, cousin of the groom, Eugene Stover, cousin of the bride, and Glenn Bower, her twin brother, were Mr. Plapp's attendants. Edith Plapp and Eugene Stover also performed the duties of ushers.
For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Bower wore a blue and white bemberg dress, white accessories, while Mrs. Plapp wore an orchid and white jersey dress. Both had corsages of pink and white carnations.
Before the ceremony Arleen Krueger furnished accordion selections later playing customary wedding processional and recessional Lola Bower, a cousin of the bride, sang "Because" and "O Promise Me." She was accompanied by Norma Johnson.
