Rev. N. G. Clark died on 3 December 1872 at Elgin, Illinois, USA.2,1
The following obituary appeared in the newspaper The Chicago Evening Mail published in Chicago, Illinois 4 December 1872:
ELGIN
Special Dispatch to the Evening Mail
     DEATH OF AN OLD CITIZEN,
Elgin Dec 4— -Rev N G Clark, one of the oldest citizens of this city died at his residence here yesterday at 11 a m aged 71.
Mr Clark came to Elgin in 1835 and was an intimate friend of James T. Clifford, the founder of this city, during the whole of his file. He organized the first church in this section of country and was its pastor for more than a quarter of a century. As a conscientious minister of the gospel and a good man lie was generally known throughout Northern Illinois and his death will cast a gloom over many households by whom his memory will be revered throughout all the coming years. Of his immediate family there is only his wife left, their children having gone befere (sic) him into the great Unknown. Mrs Clark is in very feeble health and it is not probable that she will long survive her husband.2
