Blagg-Smith Wedding Celebrated at Church
The marriage of Miss Catherine () Smith, daughter of Mr. and Clifford C. Smith, RFD 6, city, and Thomas Doyle Blagg, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. A. Blagg of Caruthers, Calif., took place at 5 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Baptist church. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Troy A. Sum(?) pastor.
The church altar was decorated with a background of palms. In front of the greenery were tall floor baskets of white gladioli. Three seven pronged candelabra holding lighted white tapers also were used for decorations. The candles were lighted by the ushers prior to the ceremocy.
The wedding music was offered by S. I. Moore, Jr., organist, and Mrs. D. C. Ware, soloist. Before the wedding Mr. Moore played "To a Wild Rose" (McDowell) and "Trapmeret" (Schumann). The wedding party entered to the strains of "The Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin" played by Mr. Moore. "Lelbestraum" (Liszt-Gaul) was played during the ceremony and Mr. Moore played “The Wedding March" (Mendelssohn) for the recessional.
Miss Mary Virginia Smith was the bride’s maid-of-honor and only attendant. Harold F. Hale was Mr. Blagg's best man, and ushers were Ben Wilkins and Hugh McCann.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore an aqua wool gabardine Fred A. Block suit, featuring the new padded hip-line, which was emphasized by pockets designed with grouped folds. Her crepe blouse was of white and she wore a strand of pearls, a gift from the bridegroom. Her hat, a Veida original. was of cinnamon colored feathers. She wore brown corba shoes and carried a shower bouquet of white bride's roses from which fell white satin ribbons tacked with white rosebuds.
Miss Smith, the attendant, wore a Kay-Saks original gabardine suit, of dusty rose. Her form-fitting coat was made on long lines and her black hat was trimmed with metallic braid. She wore other black accessories and carried a colonial bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums, tied with Talisman ribbon.
Mrs. Smith, mother of the bride, wore a black crepe model, trimmed with rhinestones. Her corsage was of pink Debutante camellias.
The men in the wedding party wore dark suits and white boutonnieres. A graduate of Hattiesburg High school, the bride is employed in the traffic department of the Mississippi Central railroad, where she has worked for the past two years.

Mr. Blagg was graduated from Caruthers High school. He served three years in the U. S. Army and at present is employed in Caruthers.
After a motor trip to points in Tennessee, Arkansas and Oklahoma Mr. and Mrs. Blagg will be at home at 713 0 st., Fresno, Calif.
With her wedding suit the bride wire brown accessories and a corsage of white roses for traveling.
A reception was held at the YWCA after the wedding. Southern smilax and white chrysanthemums decorated the room. The bride's table was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake. topped with a wedding bell, in front of which were a distinctive bride and bridegroom. Love birds also decorated the cake. White tapers in silver candlesticks graced the table.
After Mr. and Mrs. Blagg cut the first slice in conventional style, the cake was served with punch and mints by Mrs. Harold Hale. Serving the punch were Mrs. Hugh McCann and Miss Evelyn Strahan. The register was presided over by Ernestine Culpepper.
Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Burkett and introduced to Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Smith, the bridal couple and Miss Mary Virginia Smith.
