     He was educated in 1836 attende Harvard University at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. I need to verify this because I don't fully understand the catalogue entry.

     Isaac Ewen Tanner died on 8 June 1918 at Wells, Cherokee County, Texas, USA, at age 74 according to Texas Death Certificate 23904.1,2,7,8 The informant on his death registration was his son-in-law, William Rushing Sanders.2
     Isaac E. Tanner was buried at Knight Cemetery, Lufkin, Angelina County, Texas, USA.1
     
Military Service - Confederate Army

     Isaac Ewen Tanner began military service on 6 November 1861 at the age of 17 at Sabine Pass serving as a Private in Co E, Spaight's Battalion of the Confederate Army. It was also known as the 15th Regiment, Texas Infantry. Sabine Pass is now a neighborhood within Port Arthur Texas.7
     On 15 April 1864, He was detached from the Company for guard duty at Burr's Ferry. He continued to serve there unti lat least Nov 1864. Note that no battles were fought there, but the earthworks still exist today.9 Isaac Ewen Tanner ended military service as part of general demobilization in May 1865

     Amanda Melvina Tanner died on 28 July 1947 at King's Daughters Hospital, Temple, Bell County, Texas, USA, at age 84 according to Texas Death Certificate 84220.1,2
      The informant on her death registration was her son, N. A. Mason.2
     A. M. Tanner appeared on the 1870 U.S. Federal Census of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, in the household of N. P. and A. West, and she was listed as "at home" with her grandparents.7

     BARTLETT, August 1—Funeral services conducted at the Val Verde Baptist Church at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, for Mrs. N. A. Mason, Sr., who died in a Temple hospital after an extended illness. The Rev. Will Robbins of Holland officiated, and the Rev. V., B. Breazeale assisted. Interment was in the Val Verde cemetery.
     Mrs. Mason was born in Newton County, January 12, 1863, as Mellie Tanner. She and her husband had made their home east of Bartlett until his death in 1932. She was a life-long member of the Baptist Church.
     Surviving are three sons, Willie Mason, N. A. Mason and Sam Mason all of Bartlett one daughter, Mrs. C. C. Mabry, Sweetwater; 12 grandchildren and 8 grea-grandchildren (sic).3

In the death registration of Narrie Arthur Mason, who died on 28 March 1970, Melvina Tanner was identified as his mother.5
