Following is a very rough automated translation of text from the French language Durand--Chartier web pages:
François Durand the second " son-in-law " of Rene Durand (his brother), made his marriage contract with Marie-Madeleine David, in front of the notary Pierre Petit, February 27, 1729, the same day as his marriage. Of this union 10 children were born. Of these ten (10) children, two (2) of its sons: Joseph-Baptiste and Jean-Baptiste Durand still have descendants today. Of these descendants some still cultivate the ground on a purely professional basis within Champlain. This descent also represents a very sedentary family which shows to us a continuous occupation of the municipality of Champlain on more than 325 years, i.e. since Pierre Durand until our days. This family gave to Champlain a " Captain of Militia " which at that time (about 1765) was a high rank. Therefore of not fewer notaries, insurance brokers and a number of other professions. Of this family is resulting Monseigneur Louis-François Chartier (1870-1945) who was, almost until the middle of our century, the first general vicar of the diocese of Three-Rivers. This family lets see descendants until in the West of Canada. Finally descendants of François Durand after the fourth and where the fifth generation chose the surname of their mother Jeanne " CHARTIER ".1

However, based upon births starting in 1770, Elizabeth Simpson seems the better candidate. Huggate is near Weaverthorpe in Yorkshire -- see Cary's maps pages 51 & 52 near top of pages.6,7
