     The following obituary appeared in the weekly newspaper The Dearborn County Register published in Lawrenceburg, Indiana 30 May 1929 :
Mrs. Hester Ann Gore Passes to Her Reward
     Hester Ann Gore, age 83 years, widow of Chas. H. Gore, died at her home on Sh[o]rt street, this city, Sunday evening at 5:30 o'clock. Mrs. Gore had been ailing for several months but was confined to her bed only about a week previous to her death.
     The deceased was the daughter of Edward and Emeline Lowe Burbage. She was born at West Union, O., January 21, 1846.
     May 25, 1866 at Bentonville, O., she was united in marriage to Chas. H. Gore, who preceded her to his reward in 1921. Eight children came to bless this union, three sons and five daughters.
     In 1902 Mr. and Mrs. Gore came to Lawrenceburg to reside, from their farm residence at Georgetown, O. Mr. Gore, husband of the deceased, was a civil engineer and served as county surveyor of Dearborn county for three terms from 1902 to 1912.
     Mrs. Gore is survived by two sons, E. B. Gore of Brownsville, Tex., and M. B. Gore of Pharr, Tex; three daughters, Mrs. I. N. Bower of Ripley, O., Mrs. W. G. Langdale of Evanston, Cincinnati, O., and Miss Roberta Gore, who resides at home; also seven grandchildren, two brothers, E. L. Burbage of West Salem, O., and W. M. Burbage of this city.
     One son, J. W. G. Gore, who died in 1894, two daughters Mrs. Gertrude Gore Nowlin, who died in 1897 and Mrs. Marjory Gore Nowlin, who died in 1924 have preceded the mother to eternity. In addition to the deceased son and daughters, two brothers, W. S. Burbage and H. C. Burbage and one sister, Mrs. Marjory McCormick, who lived at West Union, O., have passed to the better
     land.Funeral services for Mrs. Gore were held at the residence on Tuesday afternoon, at three o'clock, Rev. C. D. Wilson former pastor of Hamline Chapel M. E. church officiating. Interment took place at Georgetown, O., Wednesday at 11 a.m.5

     Miss Rowena Smith Wins Right to Practice Law in State
     Another "Portia" this week joined the ranks of Rockford's business and professional women to swell the number of feminine lawyers in the city to three. The new attorney is Miss Rowena Smith, 521 Fisher Avenue, daughter of Attorney Fred H. Smith.
     Miss Smith and four Rockford young men who took the Illinois state bar examinations in July, have been notified that they successfully passed the tests and have been admitted to practice law in this state. They will receive their state licenses soon.
     Rockford College Graduate
     Miss Smith is a graduate of Rockford colleg (sic) and the University of Wisconsin law school. Some of her legal studies have been pursued in the office of her father during vacations.8
