     She was born after January 1925.1
     Alma Joyce Georgena Stoakes died on 6 January 1936, possibly while being treated at the Mayo Clinic, at Rochester, Minnesota, USA.1
      The cause of her death was given as a liver ailment.2
     She was commonly knownas Joyce Stoakes.2
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper The Leader-Post published in Regina, Saskatchewan 13 January 1936:
ALMA J. G. STOAKES
     MOOSE JAW, Jan. 13--Funeral services for Alma Joyce Georgena Stoakes, 11-year-old daughter of Captain Victor Stoakes and Mrs. Stoakes, Swift Current, who died at Rochester, Minnesota, Jan. 6, were held from the Broadfoot Funeral Parlors to Rosedale cemetery Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Donald Scott, Hodgeville and Adjutant Rea, Moose Jaw Salvation Army corps, officiating.
     Besides her mother and father, Joyce Stoakes leaves four sisters, Mrs. D. Scott, Victorine, Ruby and Tena Stoakes. Her father and mother, Captain and Mrs. Stoakes, are well known in Moose Jaw where Captain Stoakes was active in Salvation Army work following his return from the South African war. The family moved to Swift Current in 1920.1

     He was born on 10 March 1833 at Romney, Kent, England. According to the 1881 census he was born in Romney, but other sources say Newchurch.1,3 John married Florence Annie Masie McQuire before 1870.4,1,3
     Capt. J. T. Stoakes was listed as next-of-kin on Victor's attestation (enlistment) papers.5
     John T. and Annie M. Stoakes appeared on the 1881 British Census of England, at West London District School, Middlesex, enumerated effective the night of 03 Apr 1881, described as a C Engineer. Their children Harry A. T., Victorine A. C., Victor J. A., Georgia M.S., Haidee R. and Ruth O. C. were listed as living with them. His widowed mother-in-law, Caroline McQuire, and brother-in-law, Albert H. McQuire, were also in the household.3
