Bill and Elaine Green
In 1923 Bill came to Delisle, from Raymore, with his parents Mr. And Mrs. W.A. Green, who originally came from London, England. When they first arrived, Bill recalls, the street lighting was six gas lanterns. Bill worked with his dad on the tinsmithing business and also did other types of work. In 1925, he was one of the men that worked on the first No. 7 highway between Vanscoy and Delisle. He also did some work at the construction of the Outlook Bridge.

In 1927 Bill married Elaine Summach of the Avondale district. They settled in Delisle with Bill doing various jobs. He was the janitor for the United Church and Delisle Town School. This was when the coal and wood furnaces had to be started early in the morning to heat the building before services or classes. Bill looked after the mail from the trains to post office, always checking with the telephone operator to see if the train was on time and occasionally missing it and chasing it to the next town. Draying was done by Bill with horses and wagon or sleigh. The horses were also used to haul cut wood from the tree areas east of Delisle.

In 1936 Bill started with the B.A Oil Co., delivering fuel to the farmers around d Delisle. He continued to work for this company until he retired.

When natural gas was piped into Delisle in 1953, Bill took schooling on gas installation. He worked with Walter Meissner, of Sask. Power, until almost every home enjoyed the comfort of automatic heat. Because this was something new, calls came in at all hours asking for assistance to light pilots, etc.

During this time Bill and Elaine were busy raising a family of six children. They lived in several homes in Delisle, but in 1942 they purchased the Kaake house from Mrs. Watchorn. They lived in that house until 1961 when they built a suite in the back of their business building.

Bill was the Cockshutt Implement Dealer, a Chev. Sub agent for a few years, and with his parents was agent for Park Funeral Chapel. Bill took over the funeral director job, on his own, when his mother, Nancy Green, moved to Saskatoon. Elaine was agent for a dry cleaning firm, a florist shop, and looked after the office.

Bill served on the United Church Board, Town Council, and Local Fire Brigade. He and Elaine were always willing supporters of the church and community. Their friends also enjoyed the many hours spent in their home playing cards. Good fortune was with Elaine when she had her name drawn for a new car in Saskatoon and also Regina.

The family of Bill and Elaine live in or quite near to Delisle. Ken, who married Jean Dishaw of Milden, lives in Rosetown working as a town clerk. Lila lives and works in Saskatoon. Howard, or buster, as he was called, married Jessie Sidwell of Frenchmans Butte, lives in Rosetown and is an insurance agent. Joyce married Charlie Ramsay of Delisle, and they live in town. Bob married Faye Taylor of Rosetown, and is living in Saskatoon, working as a teacher supervisor. Mary is married to George Orchard, Jr. and they reside in Delisle. This family have produced eighteen grandchildren for Bill and Elaine.

In 1969, Bill and Elaine sold the business to Gus and May Caripley. They are now living in Saskatoon.8

SUMMACH
Harold William Summach, 88, of Saskatoon passed away on March 2, after a brief illness. His devoted wife Flo and many of his loved ones, including his cherished great-granddaughters, felt blessed to share the final peaceful hours of his life. Born in 1914 in the Tregarva, SK area, he was the third oldest in a family of six brothers and two sisters. Left to mourn are his wife, Flo; his stepdaughter, Maureen McPherson (Bob); his beloved granddaughters Alexis and Iona (Chris Rodman) McPherson and the joys of his heart, great-granddaughters Ashley and Emma. Also very close to Harold's heart was Peggy Antonichuk (Rod) and her children, David and Julia Kerr. He is also survived by his brothers Cecil and Mervin (Lynn); sisters-in-law, Florence Summach, Larre Lipsett, Mollie Arnold and Ruth Miller: brothers-in-law, George Campbell (Grace) and John Lipsett (Mary), and his nieces and nephews, Bob Green (Linda), Mary Orchard (George), Barbara Wurtz (Winston), Lois Spark (Ralph), Linda Wells (John), Warren Summach (Debbie), Deanna Summach, Charlene Shoforost (George), Harley Summach (Sondra), Neil Summach (Bev), Grant Summach (Diane), Reg Summach, Trudy Cook, Barry Campbell (Mary), Valerie Virgin (Doug), Janice O'Neal (Paul), Eric Campbell (Sharon), Noreen Fuerth (Chuck), Wayne Summach (Phyllis), Faye Reynolds (Stephen), Kim Erixon (Bob), Shawn, Bob, and Greg Lipsett, Joe Arnold, Linda Berry (Ian), Barbara Arnold, Karen Barrett (Kim), and Brian Miller and their families. Harold was predeceased by his parents, Mary and William; brothers Lester, Bob, and Ted Summach; sisters Elaine Green and Marietta Campbell; sisters-in-law Mary Summach, Esther Summach, Elaine Summach and Theresa Summach; brothers-in-law Bill Green, Robert Lipsett, Stan Arnold, and Gary Miller; nephews Ken and Howard Green and Trent Summach; and nieces Lila Green, Joyce Ramsay, and Sheridene Summach. After operating the family farm in the Asquith area for a number of years, Harold joined Lipsett Footwear in Saskatoon, marrying Flo in 1968. Together they operated the family business for over thirty years, joined for the last twenty-two years by their son-in-law, Bob. A successful farmer and businessman, a devout and generous Christian, Harold was deeply devoted to his entire family. Throughout his life he was a faithful and active supporter of the Baptist Church. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist in Saskatoon where he will be remembered by the congregation. During his years of involvement with the store and the church, he made many friends and acquaintances. He will be missed. The family would like to thank the Royal University Hospital staff for their devoted care. The warm support of Dr. Sheila Harding was especially appreciated. A public visitation for family and friends will take place at the Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Avenue North, on Wednesday, March 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held at Emmanual Baptist Church, on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m., led by Pastor Cal Malena. Memorial donations in Harold's memory may be made to Emmanual Baptist Church, 1636 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, S7H 5H7. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Saskatoon Funeral Home. When I must leave you, Please do not grieve and shed wild tears, And hug your sorrow through the years, But start out bravely; making it a rule, And for my sake, and in my name, Live on, doing all things the same. Feed not your loneliness, on empty days, But fill each waking hour in useful ways. Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer, And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near; And never, never be afraid to die; For I am waiting for you, in the sky

SUMMACH Cecil Alexander
(1916-2006)
In the early morning hours of September 13, 2006, Cecil Summach, age 90, passed peacefully from this world into his heavenly home. The Funeral Service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Taylor St. and Acadia Dr., on Saturday, September 16 at 2:00 p.m.. He is survived by his two sons, Neil (Bev) of Saskatoon, and Grant (Diane) of Irricana, Alberta; his two grandsons, Blair Summach (Heather) of Rosetown, and Scott Summach (Jenn) of Saskatoon; and his most precious great grandson, Brock Summach of Rosetown; his sisters-in-law, Florence Summach, Flo Summach, Lynn Summach, Wilda Minty and Marge Johnston; brother-inlaw, George (Grace) Campbell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Elaine; his parents, William and Mary; his brothers, Harold, Bob (Esther), Ted, Lester (Mary), and Mervin (Terry); his sisters, Elaine (Bill) Green and Marietta Campbell; his sister-in-law, Bernice (Ken) Peters; his brothers-in-law, Ralph (Flo) Johnston, Dr. Bob Johnston and Ron Minty; and his granddaughter-in-law, Nicole Summach. Cecil was born at Tregarva, SK. and grew up in the Delisle/ Asquith area. In his early years farming played a major role in his life. Throughout his life he enjoyed getting back to the farm to see how the crops were doing. Cecil married Elaine Johnston on January 8, 1944 and together they enjoyed 57 years of marriage before her death in 2001. Cecil was known for his great sense of humor which he maintained until his final days. He was liked by all who knew him. His nickname was "The Candy Man " as he always had candies in his pockets to give away. Cecil was a wonderful, loving husband and grandpa who was very involved in the lives of his grandsons. We will all miss him terribly, but we are thankful for his full and faithful life. We want to thank the staff of Porteous Lodge (Villa) for their loving care of our father (grandfather) over the last 18 months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, Memorial Fund, or Porteous Lodge (Villa) or a charity of your choice. Email condolences may be sent mail@saskatoonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to the SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME. 244-5577
