The bride, given in marriage by her brother Lester Summach, looked lovely in a floor length gown of white triple sheer with a filmy net veil and carried a bouquet of American Beauty roses and larkspur. Miss Bernice Johnston of Saskatoon as bridesmaid was gowned in heaven blue sheer. She wore a headdress of blue net and carried a bouquet of snapdragons. Mervin spent four years in the forces, and while stationed in .England manned a Scottish girl. She recently arrived from Motherwell, Scotland, aboard the Letnia to join her husband. Mrs. Ivan smith welcomed the guests. The evening was spent in community singing lead by Harold and Ted Summach.
Numerous gifts were presented to the honored couple in a miniature house. After displaying the gifts Terry and Mervin thanked everyone for them and expressed gratitude for the welcome received.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Cecil Summach, Sadie Enns. Mrs. Mac Summach, Mrs. Everett Young, Mrs. Wilfred Summach and Mrs. Ivan Smith.12

Mervin spent four years in the forces, and while stationed in .England manned a Scottish girl. She recently arrived from Motherwell, Scotland, aboard the Letnia to join her husband. Mrs. Ivan smith welcomed the guests. The evening was spent in community singing lead by Harold and Ted Summach.
Numerous gifts were presented to the honored couple in a miniature house. After displaying the gifts Terry and Mervin thanked everyone for them and expressed gratitude for the welcome received.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Cecil Summach, Sadie Enns. Mrs. Mac Summach, Mrs. Everett Young, Mrs. Wilfred Summach and Mrs. Ivan Smith.12
Theresa B. Summach was included on a passenger manifest for the "Empress of Australia," a Canadian Pacific liner that departed from Montreal dated 19 May 1954 arriving at Liverpool, Lancashire, England, accompanied by her children Reginald and Sheridone (sic). Their stated destination was Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Mom told me that Terry, who was a war bride, was very homesick for Scotland. She was lovely in a gown of white ratinell, and wore her mother's veil, held In place by pearls. She carried a bouquet of lilies and fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Doris Denzin, who wore a yellow net frock and carried red baby chrysanthemums.. Lester Summach attended the groom. The bride entered the room to the strains of the bridal march played by Phyllis Denzin who also sang "O Perfect Love, accompanied by Miss Evelyn Catley as organist. The bride's mother wore a dress of black crepe and corsage of roses. The groom's mother wore a wine costume and corsage of roses. A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's patents, where Helen Lauder, assisted by Audrey and Gladys Freethy, Evelyn Catley and Muriel Brown served. For travelling the bride wore a green knitted suit with rust accessories. After a short honeymoon the couple will reside at Delisle..12

He served as Town Councillor and Mayor and spent many hours maintaining the Asquith streets. He served on school boards, Credit Union boards and committees. He retired from farming in 1974 and continued serving others.
He was an avid sportsman. Fishing, hunting, curling and bowling were some of his favorite activities. He loved all TV sports. He had a special love for gardening.
He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be best remembered by the children as "Candy Bob". The music played today was requested by Bob.3

A pretty wedding took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Denzin, when their daughter, Esther Elizabeth, became the bride of Robert Norman Summach, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Summach, Delisle. The ceremony was conducted by Rev. S. P. Rondeau, Brora. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She was lovely in a gown of white ratinell, and wore her mother's veil, held In place by pearls. She carried a bouquet of lilies and fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Doris Denzin, who wore a yellow net frock and carried red baby chrysanthemums.. Lester Summach attended the groom. The bride entered the room to the strains of the bridal march played by Phyllis Denzin who also sang "O Perfect Love, accompanied by Miss Evelyn Catley as organist. The bride's mother wore a dress of black crepe and corsage of roses. The groom's mother wore a wine costume and corsage of roses. A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's patents, where Helen Lauder, assisted by Audrey and Gladys Freethy, Evelyn Catley and Muriel Brown served. For travelling the bride wore a green knitted suit with rust accessories. After a short honeymoon the couple will reside at Delisle..16

This is suppported by his age in the 1881 census8,7; or, on 31 October 1877 at England according to his WWI enlistment papers. He was an unmarried carpenter with no previous military experience. He was described as being 5' 9 1/2" with a fair complexion, blue eyes and auburn hair. On his Attestation (enlistment) papers, he listed his next-of-kin as Capt. J. T. Stoakes. He was assigned regimental number 786.8 Victor John Ashford Stoakes ended his military service before 1 June 1902 after serving with the 2nd Regiment, Canadian Mounted Rifles. According to a letter of 12 Jul 1906 accompanying his Queen's South Africa Medal with 3 clasps, he had served in Cape Colony, Transvaal and South Africa.
