RENWICK WINS
Former Resident of South Grove Successfully Defends Action Brought By Wife.
The decision in the Renwick divorce case at Rockford; was a sweeping victory for the husband, Robert Renwick, who was sued tor separate maintenance by his wife Blanche Billings Renwick. In his decision Judge Fuller gave a seething rebuke to the woman.
Mr . Renwick has fought the case bitterly claiming a conspiracy to get part of his property. The evidence has been of such a character that, no women have attended court and the newspapers omit all of it.
Referring to the case the Rockford Star says:
Judge Fuller dissolved the injunction upon Mr. Renwick's farm and personal property and against seeing his child, and dismissed the complainant's bill for want of equity. It was a complete victory for Mr. Renwick.
When Judge Fuller had finished his remarks a wave of applause swept over the court room. "Don't do that!" exclaimed the judge, raising his hand warningly, and the demonstration of approval ceased . But there was no question of the satisfaction of the audience over the decision.
When Mr . Frost had finished, Judge Fuller immediately began with his opinion. The court spoke impressively, almost dramatically. He spoke off-band, but his words indicated that none of the details of the case had escaped him, while at the same time be gave a clear exposition of the equities of the case. The court on the legal points declared with fine emphasis that those seeking equity must do equity and must come into court with clean hands. He dissolved the injunction and dismissed the bill.8
