Stevensville, July 25.—(Special.) Harve Hayden, who in 1876, assisted in the original survey of Stevensville, when the town was first laid out, died last week in M Madison, Mo., at the age of 84 years.      The following article appeared in the Macon, Missouri Macon Times, 5 April 1895 :
Excello Items
... Mrs. W. P. Chandler, who was called to the death-bed of one of her nephews near Madison, has returned home. She informed me the young man was dead when she got there. He had the measles and relapsed. He was a son of her brother, Tucker Hayden.6

She lost her second husband, William Percy Chandler, on 11 October 1904. Based upon dates of marriage and death.2
The following article appeared in the Macon, Missouri The Macon Times-Democrat, 23 June 1910 :
MARRIED IN EXCELLO.
Groom Has Seen the Snows of 76 Winters- The Bride Is 62.
His friends have been having lots of fun with Uncle Henry Powell for quite while, charging that he was going to get married to this and that widow, Uncle Henry Anally determined he might as. well have the game as the name so on last Sunday he sailed into Excello and there was, as the Hannibal papers say, "united in holy wedlock" to Mrs. Marion Chandler, widow of William Chandler. Uncle Henry is 76 years young, and is getting still more so every day of his life. His blushing bride is 62. Mr. and Mrs. Buck Lucas drove down to Excello for the purpose of standing up with Uncle Henry and giving him courage to go through the ordeal, but when they got down there. they found he had plenty of sand and could get along without them. Uncle Henry will have an engraved picture of himself in the Macon county history, a copy of which he will give to his bride as a wedding present.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Powell have children by former marriages, but all married and have families and interests of their own.
Uncle Henry Powell, as he is familiarly called, is one of the best keen men in Macon county. Until very recent years he has been the owner of a splendid thirteen hundred acre tract of land near this city. Much of this has been disposed of and invested otherwise but now he has a beautiful home in Macon to which he will take his wife, where they will spend the sunset days of life.7

The following article appeared in the Macon, Missouri The Macon Republican, 25 June 1910 :
WELL-KNOWN COUPLE WED.
The marriage of "Uncle" Henry Powell to Mrs. Miriam Chandler of near Excello took place at the Chandler home south of Excello on last Sunday. Rev. O. E. Lockhart of the M. E. Church, S. performed the ceremony. Mr. Powell is one of the well- known citizens of Macon county, having resided here for the better part of his seventy odd years and has acquired no little amount of property, Mrs. Chandler has for a great many years lived south of Excello and is also quite well known and has many relatives and friends about there. Tuesday evening there was a grand charivari up at the Powell residence when the neighbors and friends of the newly- gathered and serenaded them with tin pans, horns, guns, etc. However, their coming had been anticipated and the groom had laid in an abundant supply of candy and cigars which he distributed with lavish hospitality. THE REPUBLICAN extends congratulations to this "young" old couple who have cast their lots together.5

     Annotation on family group sheet:
Muriam (nick name Tooy) married 3 times: Chandler 3rd husband and Powell 2nd time.1
The following analysis is from my personal research and reflects my attempts to consolidate information from different sources.
The Kuhn Family History notes above that she was married three times, but can only name two of her husbands, and gets the order of their marriages reversed. I have not yet found a source confirming a third marriage. Since she married William Chandler when she was 17, I doubt if there was a previous marriage. There is a nearly six year gap between the death of W. P. Chandler, and her marriages to Henry Powell. If there was another marriage during this time, I would have expected the accounts of the her marriage to Henry to have used another surname for her.8

The following analysis is from my personal research and reflects my attempts to consolidate information from different sources.
An undated clipping of an obituary for Mrs. Sallie Hayden refers to a surviving sister, Mrs. W. O. Maxey. I believe this was Mary Frances - widow of Hezekiah Hales Maxey. It was an error on the part of the person writing the obituary.
     W. O. Maxey was actually her son, William Overton Maxey.17
