Mrs. Barney Cornwell, 66. New Hampton, Ia., a native of Boone county and for several years a resident of Poplar Grove and Belvidere, died Sunday night at 10, o'clock at New Hampton, according to a long distance telephone call Sunday night to her sister, Mrs. 0. E. Hammond, 412 West Hurlbut avenue.
Mrs. Emma Cornwell was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Maitland both of whom died several years ago. She was born in Poplar Grove Sept. 23, 1877. She and Barney Cornwell were married about 25 years ago.
During the time she resided in Belvidere; she served for a year as a nurse in the Clyde Andrus home, 619 North State street.
Survivors of Mrs. Cornwell are her husband; a sister. Mrs. O. E. Hammond, 412 West Hurlbut avenue; a brother, Charles Maitland, Poplar Grove; four nieces, Mrs. Mrs. (sic) Mildred McConnell, Mrs. William Wallingford, 1510 North Court street, and Mrs. Maurice Larson, Reckford; four nephews, Milton Maitland, Erwin Maitland and Wayne Maitland, all of Poplar Grove, and Leonard Maitland. Chicago.
Wayne Maitland is now serving in the U. S. armed forces. Mrs. Mildred Welch, a sister of Mrs. Cornwell, died several years ago at Racine, Wis.
Funeral services will he held at New Hampton, but complete details of the rites were not available today.1

Mrs. Cornwell died Sunday night. She was born in Poplar Grove, Ill., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Maitland. In 1915 she married B. A. Cornwell at Rockford, Ill., moving to Independence, where they lived 4 years before coming to New Hampton. Eight years ago they moved to New Hampton. Her husband survives.2
