Miss Helen Grant Becomes Bride of James D. Miller At Presbyterian Ceremony
     Miss Helen Margaret Grant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.. Raymond C. Grant of Helena, and James D. Millar, nephew of Mr and Mrs R. I. Ornburn of Helena, were united In marriage at a ceremony which took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock In the First Presbyterian church. The Rev. C. E. Whittier read the vows in the presence large number of guests.
     Tall baskets of yellow and white chrysanthemums. palms and ferns were used to decorate the church and the altar which was lighted with yellow and white tapers. White satin ribbon tied at each pew with small bouquets of yellow and white pompoms decorated the aisle of the church.
     Before the wedding service, Mrs. C. S. Heide!, organist, and Miss Madelyn Bell, violinist, played "I Love Thee," "0 Promise Me," and "In the Still of the Night." Wagner's "Wedding March from Lohengrin" was played for the entrance of the bridal party.
     Gliven in marriage by her father, the bride wore a lovely gown of Ivory satin fashioned in princess style with a full skirt, leg-o'-mutton sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. Her fingertip-length veil of white net was fastened to a halo of orange blossoms and she carried an arm bouquet of Ophelia roses tied with white satin ribbon. Miss Mary Mason. the maid of honor and only attendant, wore a hyacinth colored gown of brocaded taffeta with a shoulder-length veil of white net. Her flowers were Talisman roses.
     Thomas. Robertson was Mr. MIIler a (sic) beat man.**Following the ceremony a wedding dinner at the Placer hotel was attended by the bridal party, relatives and close friends of the couple. A four-tiered cake decorated with a miniature bride and bridegroom and flanked at either side with low bowls of pink roses and white tapers centered the table.
     Mr. and Mrs. Miller will make their home at Harlowtown after a short wedding trip. He is employed there by the state water conservation board. **The bride was graduated from Helena high school and attended the University of Washington at Seattle. Mr. Miller attended the University of Missouri.
    [:NB:]PRE-WEDDING PARTIES
     A no-host dinner and shower was given Friday evening In the banquet room of Eddy's Drive-Inn honoring Mrs. Miller. The table was decorated with fall flowers and tapers and places were marked for Misr Mary Mason, Mrs. Marvin Flatow, Miss Esther Larson, Mrs. B. J. Ornburn, Mrs. Raymond C. Grant, Miss Minnie Mae Schaeffer, Miss Madelyn Bell, Miss Betty Fitzsimmons, Miss Janice Houghton, Miss VIrginia Hazzard, Miss Jean Loquet, Miss Joanna Shoemaker, Miss Helen Korisek, Miss Maxine Porter, Miss Virginia Lydick and the honored guest.**Wednesday evening Mrs. C. S. Heide! entertained at a dinner party for 14 friends of the bride. Yellow pompoms and matching tapers decorated the table.

     At a ceremony which took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church, tho former Miss Helen Margaret Grant, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond C. Grant, became th bride of Mr. Miller, who la a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Ornburn. The couple will make their homo at Harlowton where Mr. Miller la employed by the state water conservation board.8

     The following analysis is from my personal research and reflects my attempts to consolidate information from different sources.
     The marriage between James Miller and Helen Grant must have been very short-lived becuase she was already referred to as Helen Grant in her father's Aug 30, 1941 obituary.
     However, there is a June 1941 birth announcement for a son born to Mr. and Mrs. James Miller that may be this couple.
     She was divorced by the time of her Aug 7, 1943 marriage to Leo Kottas.12

     In the obituary of Raymond C. Grant who died 30 August 1941, his daughter, Helen Grant of Helena, Montana, was listed as a survivor.13
     The following article appeared in the Helena, Montana Independent Record, 15 August 1943 :
Helen Grant is Bride of Leo Kottas
     Mrs. Raymond C. Grant of this city announces the marriage of her daughter, Helen Margaret, to Leo J. Kottas, also of Helena.
     Capt. John D. Leach, post chaplain at Fort Harrison, officiated at the nuptial rites solemnized last Saturday morning at the home of the bride's mother, 404 North Benton avenue.
     Only members of the immediate family witnessed the 11 o'clock service, after which the couple left for a trip to the west coast.
     They will make their home at 531 Hollins avenue.
     Note: I assume that the reference to "last Saturday" is to Aug 7 rather than Aug 14 which would likely have been referred to as "yesterday."14,1
Helen Margaret Kottas, daughter of the bride, was listed as a witness to the marriage of Christopher Albert Wallace and Eva Gay Lord on 22 August 1944.15
     Leo J. and Helen M. Kottas appeared on the 1950 U.S. Federal Census of Helena, Lewis & Clark County, Montana, enumerated 10 April 1950, described as a lawyer in a private lawyers office.6
     In the obituary of Christopher A. Wallace who died 9 March 1960, his step-daughter, Mrs. Leo Kottas, was listed as a survivor.16
     In the obituary of Eva Grant Wallace who died 29 January 1965, Mrs. Leo Kottas, was listed as a survivor.17
     In the obituary of Leo J. Kottas who died 7 October 1999, Helen Grant was referenced.18

     The engagement of Miss Helen Frances Grant, sister of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond C. Grant and Mr. Ernest Hattrick of Helena is announced. The marriage will take place at Independence, Iowa, on Tuesday, September 6.
     Miss Grant was a teacher of domestic science in the Helena public schools last year. She is a girl of charm and pleasing personality and made many friends in Helena.
     Mr. Hattrick is the electrical engineer for the Montana Division of the Bell Telephone company.
     The marriage will be a quiet affair and will take place at the home of Miss Grant's grandmother. After a brief wedding trip they will return to Helena.8
