     He died on 21 February 1913 at St. Louis, Missouri, USA, at age 62. The informant was Lillian Hilgemann.3      William Helgeman was buried on 24 February 1913 at Old Saint Marcus Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.3

     Edward W Hilgeman and Mary Hilgeman appeared on the 1880 U.S. Federal Census of St. Louis, Missouri, enumerated 11 November 1880, enumerated as a cigar maker. Their children Lilly, Laura and William were listed as living with them. William should not have been included in this census since he was probably born after the official census date of June 1, 1880.1
Edward W Hilgeman appeared on the 1900 U.S. Federal Census of St. Louis, Missouri, enumerated 9 June 1900, enumerated as a Cigarmaker and had been unemployed for 2 months in the previous year. He was listed as single rather than as a widower. His nephew and niece, Charles Rowe and Mamie Rowe and two boarders were also included in his household.6
     His name was also recorded as William Hillgeman on his daughter Lillian's death certificate.2 He was commonly known as William Hilgeman3 ; and, Wilhelm Hilgemann.5
