Prominent Resident of Renfrew Passes
E. H. Stevenson In Business There For Years
Special to The Journal
Renfrew, Ont., July 27
There passed away at his home on Renfrew street last evening one of Renfrew's most esteemed businessmen in the person of E. H. Stevenson after a long illness. The late Mr. Stevenson was born in the Township of Admaston In the year 1859 and came to Renfrew when a child. He grew up in his father's business, that of furniture and undertaking, and was the proprietor of that business at the time of his death. A grandson of one of the pioneers, was ? citizen to the "manor born" and possessed an abiding faith in the town's future.
Mr. Stevenson had been ill for some time and underwent a serious, operation last December from which he apparently was recovering. Some six weeks ago he took worse and since then has been confined to bed. He was an ardent worker for Trinity United, formerly Methodist, Church.
Mr. Stevenson was an ardent fraternalist, holding membership in several of brotherhoods established here, amongst them Free Masons, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and Independent Order of Foresters. He was a life long member of the Bible Society and president of that society at the time of his death.
He was the second son in a large family whose steady honorable business advances brought credit to the solidity of the home training. He is survived by his widow and four children, three boys and one girl. Harry, Norman. Ernest and Jean.6
