George Oneal died on 8 November 1910, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Virginia Sohoonover, near Arrlngton, at Kapioma Twp., Atchison County, Kansas, USA, at age 80.1

The following obituary appeared in the newspaper The Holton Signal published in Holton, Kansas 17 November 1910:
George Oneal
Aafter a lingering illness Uncle George Oneal died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Virginia Sohoonover, near Arrlngton, Tuesday morning, November 8, 1910, in his 81st year. For one of his age he was robust, hearty and in good health until last June when he was taken suddenly ill. George Oneal was born at Philippi, West Virginia, June 5, 1830, and died in Jefferson county, Kansas November 8, 1910, aged 80 years, 6 months and 3 days. He was next to the youngest of fourteen children and the last survivor but one of the family, a sister.October 25, 184
9 he was married to Harriet A. Reed at Philippi, West Virginia. To this union were born six children, John of Denison, Rebecca A. Smith, deceased, William of Valley Falls, Mary E. Faunce of Onaga, Kans., Virginia C. Schoonover of Arrlngton and Olive Tebow of Passadena (sic), Calif. He is survived by all except Mrs. Smith. The mother died three years ago. All the children were born at Philippi.
in 1864 uncle George and his family moved to Illinois where they resided two years. March 1, 1866, they landed at Valley Falls, which, has since been his home, except a few years at Arrington.
He came, he saw. he conquered. To him the new west was a land of promise. From a small beginning he won in the battle of life and prospered, in his enjoyable retirement remembering the hardships and trials of early days as a pleasant dream. He and his late twin brother, Thomas, so similar in personal appearance, that intimate friends were often mistaken in their identity, were well and favorably known here for forty odd years.
Uncle George was a loving husband, kind and indulgent father and as a neighbor followed the golden rule. We shall long remember his cheery greeting and hearty handshakes and of him ever speak well.
The funeral was held from the M. E. church. south of Arlington, Wednesday morning at 10:30, Rev. F. M. Testerman of Meriden officiating at the services in the presence of a large congregation of friends and neighbors. The burial was in Rose cemetery at Valley Falls, where his beloved wife and daughter repose.
