Lay-Wigle
     The home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter D. Lay of Wilsey, was the setting on Tuesday evening, May 3, at 7 o'clock P. M. for the wedding of their daughter Virginia Kathryn, to Mr. Earl Raymond Wigle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wigle, also of Wilsey. The Rev. Robert A. Zwink, pastor of the Christian church, at Wilsey read the beautiful double ring ceremony, in the presence of thirty invited guests.
     Mrs. Lawrence Shetter, of Abilene, cousin of the bride, played a prelude of nuptial music and the wedding marches. She also accompanied Mr. Shetter, who sang "I Love You Truly".
     Given in marriage by her father, the bride wsa (sic) attractive in a floor length gown of white satin. It was fashioned with a high neckline, net yoke outlined in lace, tight fitting bodice, and long sleeves coming to points over the hands. Her fingertip length veil of bridal illusion, was edged in wide lace; and she carried an arm bouquet of pink and white carnations. Her only ornament was a locket a gift of the groom, and she carried a lace handkerchief belonging to the grooms mother.
     Rolland Lay lighted the candles, and Gilbert Lay acted as usher.
     Mrs. Walter Lay, mother of the bride, wore a dress of blue, and Mrs. Ed Wigle; mother of the groom was dressed in grey. They both wore shoulder corsages of deep pink carnations.
     A reception was held immediately following the services. The beautiful lace covered serving table was centered by a three tiered wedding cake, that was cut by Mrs. Allen Alspaw. Mrs. Alspaw was assisted by Miss Valora Roy and Miss Dorothy Walker, eight grade pupils of the bride. Mrs. Frank Roy and Mrs. Walter Hensley served from the kitchen.
     Following a brief trip to Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Wigle will be at home to their friends at their home in Wilsey. For traveling the bride chose an orchid linen dress, trimed (sic) in white with white accessories and a white carnation corsage.
     Mr. and Mrs. Wigle are both graduates of the Wilsey Rural High School. Mr. Wigle is engaged in farming, and Mrs. Wigle has taught school for the past two terms in the Sunflower school, and is engaged to teach next term at Walnut Grove School in Morris County.6
