     She was born on 10 May 1875 at Germany according to the 1901 census.1,4 Alternatively, she may have been born circa February 1876 at Fürstenau, Arnswalde, Prussia (modern Poland), since she was 3 months old when they took passage to North America.2 Bertha married Paul William Peters on 3 October 1900 at Evangelical Church, Wilberforce Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Marriage Registration 014712.1,3,4 Bertha married Charles Peters on 19 January 1904.3
     Bertha Panke was found on a passenger list for the "Quebec" with her parents Julius and Minna dated 10 May 1876 departing from, bound for Quebec. They apparently transitted through New York.5 Bertha Panke immigrated with her parents, Julius Panke and Minnie Heins in 1876 to Canada from Germany via New York.6,2,7,8
     William and Bertha Peters appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Alice and Fraser Twps., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 22 April 1901, described as a farmer and an Evangelical Methodist. The household also contained his parents, Charles and Sophia, and siblings, Charles, John, Fredricker, Sofia and Meta.4 She lost herhusband, Paul William Peters, on 29 December 1902.9
     In the obituary of Julius Panke who died 4 December 1938, his daughter, Mrs. Charles Peters of Pembroke, was listed as a survivor.3
