Mr., Mrs. Hare Observe Golden Wedding Day
To Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hare, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Monday, at their home, 1436 15th avenue, many friends offered their congratulations at an evening party.
From several groups of relations purees of gold were received and from many other friends there came presents of silverware, linen, and paintings, and there were many bouquets of roses. chrysanthemums and other yellow blossoms.
Special Guests
The guests at the party were received by Mr. and Mrs. Hare, Dr and Mrs. Lloyd E, Hamilton, and Mrs. R. 8. Lockwood, of Central Butte. The guest included Mrs. Hare's brothers, R. S Lockwood, Central Butte; and D. B. Lockwood, Chaplin; and Wm. Hare, a brother of Robt. Hare, and Mrs. Hare, of Chicago. There were present also many nephews and nieces of the honored couple and many other friends who called to pay their devoirs.
Program Numbers
Contributing to the program were Mr. and Mia. Wm. Robinson and G. A. Palmer, who gave dramatic sketches. Mrs. Robinson and Norman Langdale gave vocal solos for which Mrs. Hardy played accompaniments.
The table at which the bridal couple of 1881 sat was centred by a cake and gold candles. Yellow roses were also used. Many bowls of flowers graced the rooms. Rev. W. E. MacNiven was toast master. "Auld Lang Syne" and "They Are Jolly Good Fellows" were the final chorus sung.
In looking after the pleasure of the guests Mrs Hamilton was assisted by Mrs. R. S. Lockwood who had charge of the tea room; Mrs. W. W. Lockwood, of Chaplin; and Mrs. Geo, Lockwood, of Moose Jaw.
Are Canadian Born
Both bride and groom of 1881 are Canadian born. The bride was Miss Keziah Lockwood, her birthplace being Delaware, Ont; and Mr. Hare was born in Sarnia, Ont. Rev. Mr. Hueston performed their wedding ceremony at London, Ont.
The couple came to Edmonton in 1891, making the journey from Calgary by ox-team. For the trip over freighters' trails 21 days were needed. In 1919 they came to Saskatchewan and were farming near Moose Jaw till four years ago, when they retired, coming then to Regina to reside.11
