John and Anna Ashdown appeared on the 1911 Canadian Census of RM of Moose Jaw No. 161, Saskatchewan, enumerated 5 June 1911. John was described as a farmer. Their children Beatrice V, Mable M, Chatherine W., Ira John, Rose A J, Joseph C. and Bernice A P were listed as living with them.4
The following obituary appeared in the newspaper the Star-Phoenix published in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan 2 April 1931:
MRS. ASHDOWN DIES
Mrs. Anna Ashdown, aged 85 years, wife of J. J. Ashdown of Asquith, died Wednesday in a Saskatoon hospital after an illness of a few days. The Ashdown family has resided In the Asquith district for 15 years. Mrs. Ashdown is survived by her husband, four daughters and three sons. The daughters are Mrs. Orval Horm and Mrs. Lorne Mitchell, of Grande Prairie. Mrs. James Ashdown of Paddockwood, and Mrs. Bert Brown of Kinley. The sons are James of Matador, Ira of Asquith, and Joseph who lives at home.
The funeral service will be held In Asquith United Church at 2 o'clock Saturday and interment will be in Asquith cemetery. McKague's have charge.6
