The funeral servlce of Edward Blake Williamson, who died on November 22nd, 1973, was held from the Chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home on Saturday, Nov. 24th at 1.30 conducted by Dr. R. F. Schnell. Pallbearers were: Norman Lowes, David Moffat, Dale Moffat, Bruce Moffat, Brian Moffat, Monty Williamson. Interment took place in Woodlawn Cemetery.7

     William Ashdown was listed as a witness to the marriage of John James Ashdown and Annie Cawthra on 23 April 1884.8 William George Ashdown and Emma Maria Boadway were charter members of Asquith Baptist Church, organized on 6 February 1906.9 William George Ashdown of Asquith was listed as next-of-kin on his son Arthur Allen Ashdown's attestation (enlistment) papers.10

Mr. and Mrs. William G. Ashdown yesterday celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. J. M. Baxter.

On July 15, 1885. Mr. Ashdown married Miss Emma Maria Boadway at Doe Lake in the Parry Sound district of Ontario.

Twenty years later they moved with their family to Asquith and subsequently to Tisdale. Sask., where they continued to reside until the summer of 1933, when they came north to live with their daughter.

Mr. Ashdown has devoted the greater part of his life to the service of his church, a work he still carries on.

One son, Gordon Ashdown, is pastor of Hillhurst Baptist church in Calgary; another son. Newman Vine Ashdown, is in the Baptist church mission field work; another, James, is at Clelan, Sask., and a fourth son is at Porcupine Plains, Sask. One daughter, Mrs. J. Lester (sic) resides at Eldersley, Sask.

Service was held Monday in McLaurin Baptist church to celebrate their golden wedding.7

     An article about the golden wedding anniversary of William G. Ashdown and Emma Maria Boadway published on 19 July 1935 in the newspaper the Edmonton Journal referenced Mrs J M Baxter, their daughter (Annie) and the hostess of the Grande Prairie celebration.6

Canadian Military Service:
     Arthur Allen Ashdown began military service on 7 July 1916 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CanadaG, enlisted in the 232nd Battalion. He was a farm labourer.. He listed his next-of-kin as William George Ashdown on his Attestation (enlistment) papers.1 Pte. Arthur Allen Ashdown ended military service on 12 January 1917 in Battleford, Saskatchewan, CanadaG, discharged as medically unfit The "Medical History of an Invalid" included in his service file mentions a "deformed arm." It later lists the following reasons: loss of left thumb, slight enlargement of heart and tuberculosis of both lungs as the reasons for his being found medically unfit..

     She was a Charter member of Asquith Baptist Church, organized on 6 February 1906.4
     An article about the golden wedding anniversary of William G. Ashdown and Emma Maria Boadway published on 19 July 1935 in the newspaper the Edmonton Journal referenced Mrs J Lester (sic), their daughter (Olive) of the Eldersley, SK.5

     In the obituary of Newman Vine Ashdown who died 19 August 1962, his sister, Mrs John Leister of Salmon Arm, BC, was listed as a survivor.6
