     John Robert Foster Michael of 5' 7 1/2" with fair hair, grey eyes and a fresh complexion began military service on 24 August 1918 at the age of 17 at Northamptonshire, England, joining the "R.A.F." a matter of months after it's formation. Previously, he had been an engineer for Wickstead & Co, of Kettering. On his Attestation (enlistment) papers, he listed his next-of-kin as his mother, Emily Michael of Desborough. He was described as being Royal Air Force, WWI.9 John Robert Foster Michael ended his military service on 30 April 1920 after serving as a torpedoe mechanic.

Their children Joseph, Charles, Chapman, William and Lizzie were listed as living with them. All of the children were listed as scholars. Fred, the oldest son, is not enumeraetd with the family.6
     William and Mary A. Michael appeared on the 1881 British Census of England, at Skidbrooke cum Saltfleet, Lincolnshire, enumerated effective the night of 03 Apr 1881, described as an agricultural labourer. Their children Fred, Chapman, William, Eliza A., Herbert and Harold were listed as living with them.3
     William Michael appeared on the 1891 British Census of England, at Skidbrooke cum Saltfleet, Lincolnshire, enumerated effective 02 Apr 1891, described as a labourer and married, although his wife is not part of the household. His children Harold were listed as living with him.2
     The following information is from my personal research, 1895:
William and Mary Ann lost three sons; John, Alfred and Fred in February and March of 1895.10

     
     William and Mary A. Michael appeared on the 1901 British Census of England, at Saltfleet, Lincolnshire, enumerated effective 31 Mar 1901, described as a general agricultural labourer on a farm. Two grand-daughters were enumberated in the household. Selina Michael was the daughter of their son, George Thomas Michael, a sailor. I have yet to determine who the parents were for Dora Michael.11

     Mary Jacklin appeared on the 1851 British Census of Skidbrook by Saltfleet, at Lincolnshire, England, in the household of her parents, George and Mary A Jacklin.6
     William and Mary A. Michael appeared on the 1861 British Census of England, Saltfleet, at Lincolnshire, enumerated effective 07 Apr 1861, described as an agricultural labourer. Their children Fredrick and John W. J. were listed as living with them.8
     William and Mary Ann Michael appeared on the 1871 British Census of England, Saltfleet, at Lincolnshire,enumerated effective the night of 02 April 1871, described as an agricultural labourer. Their children Joseph, Charles, Chapman, William and Lizzie were listed as living with them. All of the children were listed as scholars. Fred, the oldest son, is not enumeraetd with the family.4
     William and Mary A. Michael appeared on the 1881 British Census of England, Skidbrooke cum Saltfleet, at Lincolnshire, enumerated effective the night of 03 Apr 1881, described as an agricultural labourer. Their children Fred, Chapman, William, Eliza A., Herbert and Harold were listed as living with them.7
     Mary A. Michael appeared on the 1891 British Census of England, South Somercotes, at Lincolnshire, enumerated effective 02 Apr 1891, described as a nurse (sick) in the John Green household.10
     The following information is from my personal research, 1895:
William and Mary Ann lost three sons; John, Alfred and Fred in February and March of 1895.11

     
     William and Mary A. Michael appeared on the 1901 British Census of England, Saltfleet, at Lincolnshire, enumerated effective 31 Mar 1901, described as a general agricultural labourer on a farm. Two grand-daughters were enumberated in the household. Selina Michael was the daughter of their son, George Thomas Michael, a sailor. I have yet to determine who the parents were for Dora Michael.12

     In 1919, he received the Mechantile Marine ribbon for his service during WWI. The card gives his year of birth as 1864. The Royal Naval Reserve Service Records Index, gives his birth date as 23 Jan 1864 at Saltfleet, Lincolnshire.11,12
