     He was born circa 1856 at Germany if he was 25 as stated on his marriage registration.2 Alternatively, he may have been born circa 1862 at Germany.3,1 Charles married Louisie Freivolt on 14 July 1881 at Alice Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Marriage Registration 010054.4,5,2,1
     John Charles Siegel died on 6 January 1944, at his home, at Pembroke, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, Note that his obituary says he died in his 83rd year, supporting his later year of birth.1
     
     John Charles Siegel was buried on 8 January 1944 at Evangelical Cemetery, Pembroke, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada.1
     He was commonly known as Charles Seigel.5,2 He immigrated with his parents, Frederick Siegel and Lousie Berow in 1858 or 1864 to Canada West, United Province of Canada, from Germany.1
     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper The Ottawa Citizen published in Ottawa, Ontario 7 January 1944:
John C. Siegel
     PEMBROKE, Jan. 7.--(Special)--The death occurred Thursday at his home. 533 Mary street, of John Charles Seigel, a resident of Pembroke for the past 23 years. He was in his 83rd year.
     Born in Germany, Mr. Seigel came to Canada at the age of two and after reaching manhood he farmed in this district for many years, moving to Pembroke on his retirement.
     Surviving, besides his wife, the former Amelia Frivalt, are six sons, George, Esmer, Wesley, Allan and John, Pembroke, and Herbert, Kingston; two daughters, Mrs Ernest Troutman, Pembroke, and Mrs. J. Miller, Ottawa, and one sister, Mrs. C. Schimmens, Pembroke. Burial will take place Saturday in the Evangelical cemetery, Rev. A. S. Caughell officiating.1
