Canadian Military Service:
Albert Yourth began military service on 15 March 1916 at the age of 21 years and 13 days at Pembroke, Alice Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, and was assigned to the 42nd Regiment of the 130th Battalion.7 Albert Mathew Yourth ended his military service on 20 February 1919 at Kingston, Ontario, Canada, as medically unfit (not service related) for further military service.
Earlier, he had been absent without leave for 228 days (Apr 14 to Dec 14, 1918) in Canada, and there is a form indicating he was "discharged as a deserter," dated Mar 13, 1917. This may not mean discharged from service, but ready to return to active service.
He claimed that he was "returning from leave of absence on April 13th, 1918 and he had a hemorrhage from lungs when he was at Golden Lake Ontario. His age as recorded on the Beechwood Cemetery Register indicates he would have been born about 2 Mar 1896.
On his marriage registration he gave his age as 27, meaning he claimed to be born about 1900. Perhaps, since he was marrying a 17 year old girl, he may not have wanted to admit to being about 32.18

YOURTH: , husband Frederick Yourth and his wife, Bertha A Schmidt. St. John's United Church Cemetery Golden Lake, Ontario.
Their homestead was near where I lived. I can remember when he passed away, (I was born in 1936). He had one leg off, I think the family thought he would have had diabetes, but not sure if it was diagnosed by a physician. He and his wife had a large family. Their children were very close to my father and his siblings, not only because they lived so close, but because they were double related as Godfrey and Fred were brothers, Bertha and Mary my grandmother were sisters. (Schmidt's) Fred and Bertha were parents just to help you find the info in your data base, of Alvina, Harrison, Alice, Ruby Clara, John, Gertrude etc.
Fred Yourth was the Sunday School Superintenant for many years at Golden Lake Church. I haven't researched, but the first church was suppose to have been located where the cemetery is....before the new one was built and still is my brother's church where he attends right in the Golden Lake Village. I was also married in this church. It use to be St. John's Evangelical United Brethren Church, before it because United Church of Canada, now known as: St. John's United Church. I believe it would have been in the 80's when this came about. Before my mother passed away anyhow if I recall correctly.17

However, I have no other record of a sibling of Alfred and Edwin named Yvonne. Edwin and Mildred did have a daughter Yvonne born in about 1919, so if age of 30 is months rather than years, Yvonne could be their daughter born in early 1919. Yvonne should have been included in this household as a child, so if the enumerator was correct about a 20 year old "sister," then where is Yvonne the child?

PEMBROKE, Aug 10. - (Special).
Thrown from a wagon when the horses became frightened and bolted, on the Golden Lake-Killaloe road Monday afternoon, two Golden Lake children were painfully injured, and were brought to Pembroke Cottage hospital for treatment.
Jack Yourth, aged three, received a deep laceration of the right arm; while his five-year-old brother, Douglas, had an extensive injury to the right foot, where he was trampled by one of the horses and a scalp wound. Both are sons of John F. Yourth, Golden Lake farmer, and cook at the Y.M.C.A. Red Pine Camp. The children's uncle, who was driving was also thrown out and received head injuries which did not require hospital attention.
Dr. McDermott, Golden Lake, attended the children and had them brought to Pembroke, where they were placed under the care of Dr. J. H. Joyner. They were able to return home today.23

Lived at our house one winter while their father went off cutting wood in the bush, this is what we were told., don't recall where but he only came to our place about once every 3 weeks, so the children were cared for by may family. My brother Neale and Jackie always played together. They were just like brothers. Neale born in November 1933, Jackie was born January 1934

Yourth, John F. Yourth,,,, married to Lucinda Molentine, they called her Lucy. She is the daughter of Albert Molkintin. (some put an EI on the end) and Minnie Shutt. Albert remarried in his later years, to Myrtle Griffith, she had never been married before. Myrtle Griffith was a was a sister of my Uncle, Earl Lester Griffith. (My Aunt Martha Yourt's husband, my father's sister) Lucinda, John we called him Jack, , passed away when their son, Douglas was 3 years old , the other boy, Jack (John) I think would have been around 18 months. they were almost like part of our family.
When my mother passed away, Jackie told us my mother was the only mother that they ever knew! - [S1174] Mrs. Leslie Thomas, undated newspaper clipping, unknown location, after 15 Oct 1968 viewed at Rick Moffat Personal Digital Files, JPG image of newspaper clipping received March 8, 2006 from Jean Panke.
