A wedding ceremony of interest was performed by the Rev. O. Stanley Packham at Third Avenue Church manse Friday, December 4, when Elsie May Guthrie, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Guthrie of Govan, Sask., became the bride of Lieut. John Mead Buchanan, R.C.E., Trail, B.C., son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Buchanan.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attractively gowned in a Vanity model afternoon frock in Queens blue with rhinestone trim, veiled hat to match and navy accessories. Her flowers were Dream roses and bavardla. Her matron of honor was Mrs. James Houston, who chose old rose with brown accessories and corsage of Talisman roses and sunset mums. Mr. Les Guthrie was best man.
A reception was held later at The Bessborough where the parents of the bride and groom assisted In welcoming the guests, Mrs. Guthrie wearing for the occasion a gown of air force blue with bead trimmed yoke and corsage of red roses. Mrs Buchanan was in turquoise crepe with lace trimmed bodice, black accessories and shoulder knot of roses. Mrs. M. Cowan entertained guests with piano selections.
The three-tiered wedding cake formed the table decorations, being effectively flanked with ivory tapers and white spray mums.
The toast to the bride was proposed by Mr. M. H. Hall, the bridegroom giving an appropriate reply.
The happy couple left on a wedding trip to Regina, the bride travelling In a black crepe costume with silk fringe trim, Sonje model hat, Hudson seal coat and corsage of roses. They will be at home after December 15 at Medicine Hat, Alta.
Out-of-town guests Included Mr. and Mrs. J. Buchanan and Mrs. J. H. Salter of Trail, B.C.3
