Canadian Military Service:

     Frank Templeton Boland DSC began military service on 8 June 1915 at the age of 20 years, 1 month and 26 days at Niagara Camp, Ontario, Canada. He gave his occupation as a bank clerk. He joined the 37th Overseas Battalion. He arrived in France on 30 June 1916 with the 6th Brigade Machine Gun Company.10
     On 28 June 1918, at London, England, he was discharged from the Canadian Army with his appointment as a Flight Cadet to the Imperial Army Royal Air Force.10 Acting Sergeant Frank Templeton Boland ended his military service on 15 December 1919 at England. He was serving in the 6th Machine Gun Company of the Royal Air Force.

Suddenly at New York, on Saturday, March 21, 1925, Frank Templeton Boland, beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas G. Boland, of Eganville and husband of Isobel (Betty) Turnbull, in his 29th year. Funeral at Eganville on Wednesday, April 1. Toronto papers please copy.12


     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper The Eganville Leader published in Eganville, Ontario 3 April 1925 :
Frank T Boland, DSC, 27 years, 9 months, died suddenly in New York City. He was born at Eganville, the son of Mr & Mr Thomas G Boland. He was approaching manhood when the Great War broke out. He enlisted at Toronto in 1915 with the 37th Battalion, went overseas and saw 20 months in the trenches. In 1917 he transferred to the Royal Air Force and for his splendid conduct he received the Distinguished Service Cross.

He returned to Canada in 1919, and engaged with the Union Bank, and latterly in the brokerage business in New York. On March 24, 1924 he married Olive M Isabel Turnbull, of Beaverton, Ont. Besides his grief-stricken wife he leaves his parents, and siblings: Erid Boland, Saskatoon; Aubrey Boland, Winnipeg; Aida, Jean and Marjorie Boland of Eganville.11

     She was born on 16 October 1915 at Girard, Crawford County, Kansas, USA.1 Neva married Robert George Hamilton on 14 May 1938 at Rosetown, Saskatchewan, Canada, at the United Church manse. They had 2 children.3,4 The cause of her death was given as cancer according to my mother, Estelle Moffat.2
     Neva Alene Trask died circa November 1999.2
     She was a survivor of her husband Robert who died in 1965.1
     In the obituary of Oscar Floyd Trask who died 6 March 1980, his daughter, Neva Todd, of Cranbrook, BC, was listed as a survivor.5
