     Jesse and Betsey Crosskell appeared on the 1871 British Census of England, at Keddington, District 28, at Lincolnshire,enumerated effective the night of 02 April 1871, described as an agricultural labourer. Their children Emma, Fanny, William and Mary were listed as living with them. His father, William Crosskell, was also part of the househoild and was also listed as an agricultural labourer.3
     Jesse and Betsy Croskill appeared on the 1881 British Census of England, Hallington, at Lincolnshire, enumerated effective the night of 03 Apr 1881, described as an agricultural labourer. Their children Fanny, William, Ann M, Charles H and Lucy were listed as living with them.2

Emigrated to Albany, New York, where he worked as a gardener on an estate. Thomas refused to take the oath of allegiance to the USA and brought his family to Mud Lake (near Eganville) Ontario, arriving on January 8, 1861. He purchased the south half lot 38, Concession 21, Wilberforce Township, comprising 115 acres for $115.00.1

     Charles Wm. and Mary Ann Boland appeared on the 1891 Canadian Census of Hagarty & Jones Twps., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 26 May 1891, described as a miller owner. Their son Thomas, Annie M., William Alex, Secilia Taylor, Joseph Parkine?, Laura Victoria, Mary Galesp and Marget Isabela was listed as living with them.6
     Charlie and Mary A. Boland appeared on the 1901 Canadian Census of Killaloe Station, Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, enumerated 31 March 1901, described as E Church (Church of England) and a Merchant. Their children: Thos. A., William A., Cecila, Laurie, Stewart P., Minnie G and Maggie, were listed as living with them. As was his mother-in-law, Annie Boland.4
     The following newspaper article appeared in the book Reflections of a Century compiled by the Eganville Leader (2002) at Eganville at Ontario originally published 14 April 1911 :
Councillor C. W. Boland is mentioned several times in reference to the first village council being elected for Killaloe Station.14

     The following obituary appeared in the newspaper The Eganville Leader published in Eganville, Ontario 11 August 1916 :
Died: Charles William Boland of Killaloe, 74, of injuries received in a buggy accident when his horse was frightened by an automobile. He was born at Albany, NY and later moved to Douglas. He lived at Eganville and later Killaloe. He leaves his widow and children: Thomas of Killaloe; William of Yorkton, Sask; Stuart of Cache Bay; Mrs. Touzell of Renfrew; Mrs McDonald of Coldwater; Mrs. Smith of BC, and Misses Celia and Margaret of Yorkton. Pallbearersw were his sons Wm, Thomas and Stuart and three brothers-in-law (?) Tobias, Thomas and Woenley Boland.12


     Charles William and Mary Ann were 1st cousins according to Clare Tapp. This is supported by this research. They were first cousins through their grandparents, William Boland and Cecelia Parkinson.15
     In the obituary of Mary Ann Boland who died 7 May 1923, her husband, C. W. Boland was listed as predeceased.16
     The following biographical information was shared at unknown source:
About 1869, Charles William visited Abraham & Anne Gillespie Boland, Navan, Ireland, where he met and proposed marriage to their daughter Mary Anne. The parents denied Charles request, but permitted Anne and her brother Townley to visit Upper Canada in the care of Charles ca.,1870. Charles and Mary Anne were married at Douglas, Ontario shortly after their arrival. They settled at Mud Lake and later located at Eganville, Ontario. Charles was employed as a "timber cruiser" for Bronson & Gillies Lumber and E.B.Eddy Company.15

     William Boland was buried at St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Eganville, Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada.2
     William Boland died on 20 May 1883 at Wilberforce and North Algona Twps., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, according to Ontario Death Registration 014896. His occupation was given as mail contractor.1,2,3 The cause of his death was given as sudden appoplexy.3
     William emigrated to Canada about 1868 and settled in Bromley Township, Renfrew County. His initial efforts were so rewarding that he encouraged other members of his family to come and share the good promise of the new land. William eventually moved into Eganville, Ontario, and with his brother Townley Gillespie operated a stage coach between Cobden and Eganville. He died while driving the stage coach.1

New Turnkey Appointed
Mr. T.P. Boland Assumed Duties On Monday

Mr. Tobias P. Boland of Micksburg has been appointed turnkey at the Renfrew County Goal at Pembroke and assumed the position on Monday last. In all, some seventy applications were received for the position and it was with no little difficulty that the choice was made.

Mr. Boland should prove a good official. He stands about 6 ft 1 in. and weighs two hundred pounds. He is a native of Ireland and came to this country settling in Douglas many years ago. Later, he moved to Micksburg and has conducted a blacksmith business there for the past sixteen years. Mr. Boland is 49 years of age, married and has two sons and one daughter. He is a brother of Townley and Thomas Boland of Eganville and a cousin of C. W. Boland, magistrate at Killaloe. The county has granted Mrs. Coxford, widow of the last turnkey, the use of the turnkey's house until the first of May. After that Mr. Boland and his family will occupy it. in 1915.7

Tobias P. Boland, for more than 18 years turnkey at the Renfrew county jail in Pembroke, has resigned his position owing to ill-health. Mr. Boland has been turnkey at the county jail since January 1, 1915. He succeeded Robert Coxford, who was killed as he entered the cell block on November 29, 1914.8

Boland, who for over 20 years conducted a jewellery business in Eganville -- his shop being considered one of the most attractive in the Ottawa Valley -- has been sold to Mr. Arthur Bimm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bimm, of Eganville, who took possession on Wednesday. The new owner has been with J. Deacon Taylor, jeweller of Pembroke, for the past seven years and is therefore practical and experienced.11 Robert Gordon Boland was a survivor of his wife Edna who died in 1932.6,4

At a meeting of the local board of health, which consists of the reeve, J. J. Foran, chairman; Dr. M. J. Maloney, M.O.H; Mr. R. G. Boland and Mr. Herman Hartwig, Sanitary Inspector, it was decided to stop the practice of dumping garbage and junk on roadsides and along and in the river within the corporation limits. The Sanitary Inspector was instructed to see that notices are put in every hotel room and in public places using water pumped from the river, that such water is not fit for drinking purposes.13,14
