She was born on 18 May 1845 at Ontario, Canada.3,4 She was born circa 1850 at Ontario, Canada, age given as 31 in the 1881 census.5 Frances married Alexander Bowes before 1878.4,6,2
She died on 18 May 1924 at Hyndford, Grattan Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada, at age 79 of pneumonia. Note that this death registration was copied from the original in Aug of 1924, so in the course of making the copy, the date of birth (May 18) but this does not explain why the date of return and burial are also around that date. Perhaps the transcription date of May 16th , in the Eganville Extracts book is incorrect.3
The following selected information is extracted from her obituary. Survivor(s): Mrs Noack. Predeceased: Alex Bowes.4 Frances Ann Thomas was buried on 20 May 1924 at Killaloe, Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada.3

Census Data

Frances appeared on the 1921 Canadian Census of Hagarty Twp., Renfrew County, Ontario, in the household of Albert Noack and Jenny Noack, listed as retired.7
The following obituary appeared 16 May 1924 :
The death occurred at Hyndford on Sunday of Mrs Alex Bowes, of Pembroke, who had come here on Friday to visit her daughter, Mrs Noack. She was aged 79. She leaves two sons and one daughter

Note that the above date is either transcribed incorrectly by me, or the complier of the book since she did not die until the 18th.4

     Research notes:
why does her death registration indicate she died two days later on May 18th? Is the date incorrect in "Death Notices & Obituaries from The Eganville Leader 1922-1927"?8

The following obituary appeared published in Eganville, Ontario circa 8 January 1954 :
One of Eganville's oldest and most prominent citizens, Herman Bimm, passed away at his residence here on Thursday, January 7th, following an illness of about a year's duration.

Born in Germany 80 years ago, he was a son of the late Ernest Bimm, and his wife, the former Augusta Klingbeil. He came to Canada in 1881 with his parents and settled in this vicinity. His father was a blacksmith and conducted a shop in Eganville. When his oldest son reached mature years, he choose to follow in his footsteps, He became a thorough, capable tradesman and, for a period of 65 years, he served the public of Eganville and district in a most acceptable and satisfactory manner. He was a gentleman of sterling character, and his honesty and integrity were never compromised. Pleasant and affable with the public, he was always accommodating and often extended himself to do a favor for a patron. His long period of service to his fellow-men will certainly stand as a record in this community. Besides his blacksmith business, he also conducted a farm machinery agency, and the selling and servicing of equipment took him often to the western section of the county, where he was also well known and respected.

Ernie Bimm Assumes Management of Store
The Bimm general store, under the control and management of the members of the same family since its establishment in 1911, passes to one of the younger generation. It is announced in the Leader this week, by Ernest G. Bimm, that the store is being taken over by his son, Ernest E. Bimm. The young man was attached to the Canadian Army and had attained the rank of Captain. Previous to this he filled an important position with the Hydro Electric Power Commission of Ontario. We are convinced he has the qualities which will grapple successfully with the stern realities of commercial life and competition, and in this connection he is fortunate in beginning this career in having the advice and guidance of an experienced father.11
The following obituary appeared published in Eganville, Ontario 18 July 1968 :
The funeral service of E.G. Bimm, a life-long resident of Eganville, was held at Grace Lutheran Church Tuesday, July 9.

The later Mr. Bimm was born on Dec. 3, 1882, at Eganville, the son of Ernest F Bimm and his wife, Augusta Klingbeil. He was one of a family of six boys and seven girls.

He left school at an early age and joined his father and two brothers in the blacksmith shop. Later, he left the blacksmith trade to work in the Chanonhouse printing shop for a short time before joining the staff of Mr. Albert Luloff, who operated a general store.

In 1911, after the fire which destroyed a large part of the Eganville business section, he and his brothers purchased the McRae property and built a store, which he operated until 1946.

In 1946, he sold the business to his son, E. E. Bimm, who still operates the store.
