Widely Known Valley Athlete Was in 29th Year
Carp, Ont., Jan 16.--(Special)--
Maynard Edward Schonnop, prominent in business and athletic circles here, died on Saturday at an Ottawa hospital following an illness of two months. He was in his 29th year.
Born at Carp, he was a son of Edward Schonnop and the late Mrs. Schonnop, formerly Jessie McDonald. Mr. Schonnop was one of the most active members of the Carp Athletic Association.
Fond of sports, Mr. Schonnop excelled in hockey and was goal-keeper for the Carp teams since he was 14 years of age. He umpired most of the local softball games and referred hockey matches in the district. For the past 5 years he conducted a refreshment store in the town. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church,
Carp.Surviving are his father, three sisters, Mrs. William Johnston, Pembroke, and the Misses Ruth and Helen Schonnop, both of Ottawa, and one brother, Desmond Schonnop, in Western Canada.
The funeral will be held on Monday from his home at 2.15 p.m. to St. Paul's Church for service at 2.30 o'clock. Burial will be in the Presbyterian cemetery, third line of Huntley. Rev. R. C. Eakin will be in charge.1

Decorated in Autumn flowers St. Paul's United Church, Carp, was the scene of an interesting wedding Saturday afternoon at threap o'clock when Ruth, youngest daughter of Mr. E. K. Schonnop, of Carp, and the late Mrs. Schonnop, became the bride of Ross Ingram, only son of F. A. J. Davis, of Carleton Place , and the late Mrs. Davis.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. W. R. Johnston, and the wedding music was played by Mrs. Merritt Morris, of Ottawa. The ushers were Mr. Morris and Sam Hutchings, of Ottawa. The best man was Larry Tron, of Pembroke.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride entered the church wearing an orchid wool suit with purple accessories. She also chose a corsage bouquet of yellow roses. The bride was attended by Miss Eileen Davis, sister of the bridegroom.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's father. The couple left on a motor trip, the bride wearing a grey lamb jacket over her wedding suit. They will reside in Ottawa.9

Friends here were shocked last evening to learn of the death of Mrs. Fred Fenton, of Brantford, a former resident of Carp, whose death occurred suddenly at the Brantford hospital.
Mrs. Fenton was formerly Helen Schonnop, daughter of E. K. Schonnop and the late Mrs. Schonnop, of Carp, and was in her 38th year. She spent most of her life in this district being a registered nurse a graduate of Montreal hospital.
Two years ago, she married Fred Fenton and last year moved to Brantford.
She was a former member of St. Paul's United Church and an active worker of its organizations. Before leaving Carp, she was an ardent Red Cross worker.
She leaves to mourn, besides her husband and her father, E. K. Schonnop, of Carp, two sisters, Mrs. William Johnston, Pembroke, and Miss Ruth Schonnop, of Ottawa, one brother, Desmond, Ontario West.
The body will arrive here on Wednesday morning and the funeral is expected to leave the residence of her father on Thursday at 2.30 p.m. for service in St. Paul's Church and interment in the Presbyterian cemetery, Third line of Huntley.4
