Many friends here and in the Golden Lake area heard with regret of the death at Cottage Hospital - yesterday of Daniel William Bates, highly respected resident of Pembroke and employe (sic) of the Steel Equipment Company, Limited, for the past eight years. In his 33rd year, Mr. bates had been ill five days.
Born in Golden Lake, Wilberforce township, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Bates. He married Miss Maude J. Corbett, of Golden Lake, 10 years ago and took up residence here at 415 Second avenue. A member of Zion Evangelical Church, he was interested in church circles, acting as treasurer of the Sunday school.
Surviving, in addition to his widow and parents, are two daughters, the Misses Nora and Inez, at home; seven sisters, Mrs. Ernest Berger, Mrs. Gustave Lubitz, Mrs. Percy Brundage, all of Pembroke; Mrs. Andy Pelatzke, Mrs. Gordon Pelatzke, Mrs. Henry Junop, Miss Alma Bates, all of Golden Lake; one brother, Gordon Bates, Golden Lake.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon from his home to Zion Evangelical Church for service. Burial will be in the Evangelical cemetery.1
