Died, in this city, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Sykes, on Monday morning, June 13th, 18S1, Mr. HENRY NEWTON, in the ninety-second year of his age. Ile was born in Vermont. About the year 1800 his parents removed to Western New York. In his early youth he resided near Erie, Pa., and helped to get out the timber of which the United States vessels were built with which Commodore Perry won his glorious victory on Lake Erie. Mr. Newton entered the United States Army and was on the march to Detroit for the relief of Gen'l. Hull; but the surrender having taken place, his company returned to Erie, Pa., where he was mustered out.
