Alternatively, she may have been born circa 23 March 1828 if my reading of her age at the time of her death is correct2; or, circa 1825 at Vermont, USA, since she was age 25 in the 1850 census.6,5 Alternatively, she may have been born circa 1827 at Vermont, USA, since she was age 33 in the 1860 census.3 Nancy married Peter Brace in 1845.5,7 Nancy married G.      Nancy R. Hall died on 28 February 1881 at Iowa, USA, at age 52 according to her grave marker. Her will states that she discovered she had cancer "two months ago." It does not give a date that it was written, but I presume it was about Feb, 1881, shortly before her death.2,8
     Nancy R. Hall was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa Twp., Jackson County, Iowa, USA.2
     Nancy R. Brace appeared on the 1850 U.S. Federal Census of Maquoketa, Jackson County, Iowa, in the household of Asahel and Betsey W. Hall.6
     John H. and Nancy R. Allen appeared on the 1860 U.S. Federal Census of South Fork Twp., Jackson County, Iowa, enumerated 20 August 1860, described as a physician. Their blended family included: his children, Kate Allen and James Allen, her children, Seba A. Brace and George B. Lyons and their son, E. B. Allen.9
     John H. and Nancy R. Allen appeared on the 1880 U.S. Federal Census of Maquoketa, Jackson County, Iowa, enumerated 25 June 1880, described as a Physician.10

     In her 10 Feb 1881 will, she directed payment of her debts as follows: $2,000 to her son, George B. Lyon, $100 to her sister, Olive, $5 plus $20 to Nellie Caer and to her husband; J. H. Allen, use of the homestead and $1,000, which upon his death would go to their mutual son, Ethan B. Allen. She left her "unfortunate brother," H. G. Hall, his notes (possibly debts to her), Pa's pistol and $200 towards purchasing a house. Other beneficiaries were: Nettie, H. G. Hall's child, $100; Nettie, daughter of Chas. Hall, $50 for gold watch and chain, and the "Emerald Ring" presented to her (Nancy), by her mother (Nettie's mother, presumably, Mary);$50 each to an unknown person , the sons of her brother Isaac; $ 100 to her friend S. L. Johnson; $300 to James Allen who was her step-son; to his wife, Minnie, her diamond ring; $50 to the Maquoketa Aid Society; $50 to the W.C.T.U. for temperance literature for "Band of Hope"; $100 to the Iowa Woman Suffrage Association; $300 to her only grandson Brace, $300 to her only unmarried granddaughter (not named); the residue of the estate to be divided equally between her children, Seba A. Stephens, George B. Lyon and Ethan B. Allen. She named W. M. Stephens to administer the provisions of this will. A note further stipulates that her clothing go to her sister, Olive, except for those clothes selected by her daughter, Seba; her excyclopedia to Ethan, as well as furniture not needed by her husband, to go to him if he marries, and if he lives in Maquoketa, he should occupy "Ell part" and care for Dr. Allen unless he prefers to live elsewhere; her books to be divided between her children.8

     She was born circa 1874 at Illinois, USA.1 Josephine married Edwin S. Furgason on 26 April 1919 at Sioux City, Iowa, USA. This marriage was the 3rd for each of them, and was recorded in the Woodbury County resgister.2,1
     She was also known as Vere Furgason.2 Josephine V. Furgason, of Oto, was the informant on the death registration of her husband, Edwin Spaulding Furgason, who died on 20 September 1935.2
     Research notes (April 2020):
Her third marriage registration gives her father's name as George Henkles, but in field 13, where her maiden name should appear, it reads. Josephine V. Furgason. I need to review other sources to claridy this. For now, I show her primary name (before marriage) as Josephine A. Hnkles.1
